Are you new? Join Us for Monthly Newbie AMA Sessions! (2025)

We've been inspired by the positive reception to our Leadership AMAs, and it got us thinking: what if we adapt the AMA format to create a similar space for our newest members?

We know that joining a new community can come with a lot of questions, and sometimes it's easier to get those answers in a live, interactive setting. That said, we will be (re)introducing New Member Welcoming Sessions.

Are you new to 7 Cups and have questions about how everything works? These sessions are for you! Come learn the ropes, meet other new members, and get all your questions answered in a supportive environment.

Where?
New Member Welcome Room

Who can attend?
Being new is not measured by any number or length of time, so any members and listeners who are still getting their bearings are encouraged to pop in! Regular members are welcome to participate and offer support!

When?
Our first AMA will take place Thursday, July 31st, at 5PM EST

👋 Like the Leadership AMAs, I would like to invite people to join me as co-hosts. To accurately answer and guide newbies in session as a co-host, you must have been on 7 Cups for at least 3 months and be familiar with the platform! If you fit the criteria, please fill in THIS INTEREST FORM 🙏

Note: This session, starting out, will be serving the adult side only. If enough teens are interested, we will expand this initiative.

@Heather225 Is it normal to feel nervous the first time? Because I haven’t been able to chat yet since I’m afraid of being rejected or not being able to help the person I’ll be talking to."

@cupkeyt888

It's completely normal to feel nervous before your first chat on 7 Cups! Many new listeners feel this way. It just shows you care about being a good support, and that's a wonderful quality. You might worry about not knowing what to say or if you'll help enough, but remember, your main role is simply to listen empathetically.

Don't put pressure on yourself to have all the answers. Your presence and willingness to listen are incredibly valuable. You can start with a simple, "What's on your mind today?" and just let the conversation flow. Use the elements of active listening from your training as your guardrails and you'll be doing fine. If you ever feel unsure or need guidance, please know you're always welcome to pop into the Listener Support Room. It's a great place to ask questions and get real-time advice from experienced listeners. You've got this!
