@Heather225 thank you :)
I gave the exam of active listening 1 and failed but I gave the correct answers
@Nicergv
I thought maybe u can answer this question or guide this listener since you are in charge of Al tests
@Nicergv
Hey there, looks like your test was submitted last week. Did the grader from AL 1 team reached out to you with feedback?
What is terrifying? Like, I can't understand when it is a good or bad thing. Sometimes good, sometimes bad, IDK bro!
Sorry, the right word is "terrific", not terrifying.
@TraumatizedButAlive
funny, i was just thinking about this the other day 😂 "nonplussed" is another odd word because it can mean perplexed or unfazed
How can one be “plussed”? Lol
@jesusredeemedme2425
"Because "nonplussed" contains the "non-" prefix, some people incorrectly assume it means "not plussed," leading them to believe that "plussed" must exist as its opposite. Thus, "plussed" is sometimes used informally to mean the opposite of the traditional meaning of "nonplussed," i.e., calm, composed, unfazed, or even positive and uplifted."

@TraumatizedButAlive
Originally, "terrific" meant something terrifying or causing great fear. But over time, its meaning shifted, and now it's commonly used to mean "excellent" or "fantastic." So, when you hear "terrific," the tone and context will usually tell you whether it's being used positively or negatively. Language is funny like that—it evolves in surprising ways!
@Heather225
Hey! I just became a listener today and I was wondering if anyone had any tips for me as a new listener?
@awesomeGrace2347
Welcome firstly 🥰💜
Just be yourself.
We wont connect with everyone or be everyone's cup of tea, but that's fine, it's not personal.
It's about quality of chats over quantity.
Don't take up a chat if you are not fully available or having an off day.
Take care of you.
Know you are making a difference by listening.
Be honest.
Be clear.
Be kind 🥰
@Heather225 Hi is there a thread for marital problems?
@kitkato3345
hi! yes, we've got a relevant space for you to seek support by joining our Relationship Stress forum: https://www.7cups.com/forum/relationships/
@Heather225 Hello, I've been a listener for about a month and a half now but I still have a lot to learn. I was wondering what you do when you do not feel like being a listener? What I mean by this is when you have burn out and are not in the mood to be a listener, but at the same time you also want to but because of the burn out you cannot, how do you overcome this? Sorry if this question is worded weirdly.
@Joyce25 I hear ya 🥰 it's not easy and topics can be intense, sad, triggering, you really feel for someone. It's admirable you spoke up, you recognise what you need and your limitations. Take a break when you feel like this for as long as you need and come back to it when you are able to be a comforting presence again , all we can do is our best 🥰💜 and why not check out some forums or chatrooms in the meantime, de-stress and participate in some of the fun icebreakers, all the best 🥰
@Heather225
Hi Heather! I'm a 13 yo anxious lesbian therian bigender person, and I don't know how to talk with a therapist?
Does that come with the free version?
I would love to talk with someone because I have been journaling on the entries, but want advice on how to manage anxiety better. I have tried youtube, but I think personalized would be more beneficial for me.
Thank you for helping 7Cups thrive!

@SupernaturalImpala67
hi! welcome to the Cups family! to start, here's a guide on how 7 Cups works and all the basics, including the features we offer (mindfulness exercises, group support rooms, the various forums, and of course 1:1 chats): https://docs.google.com/document/d/1M53Nm5-pbtxx2_jKfXYgYzo3NgXxjNfMwfzVSRC1rZg/edit?tab=t.0
therapy is unfortunately not free, and not available to minors, but we have a vibrant community of listeners who would be very happy to help you manage anxiety.
have you figured out how to connect with a listener yet through General Request queue or Browse Listeners (linked here)?
(also i love supernatural. just finished a full watch earlier this year 🥰)
@Heather225
I believe I read somewhere that they’ll change names if there’s a good reason for it, essentially, so maybe that counts. H, is that true? And how would Kitty access the form? Thanks :)
Hiya @kindKitty1269 welcome back! You can request a username change through this form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc-3nMPpTXQZ6JkI33U8kyXvk3uE4TtEk1ERLP-aiEnZXNqcQ/viewform
if the admin team finds it to be a relevant reason to change names, it’ll be approved! 🌞
Thank you both …I’m glad to hear there is a little wiggle room in those rules, because now that I’ve seen it (in my username) I can’t unsee it 😆
Looks like it worked! Yay! <3
@Heather225 thanks for writing that story about hope. that really cheered me up <3
@modestBalsam8023
oh i am so glad that post touched you! it was very heartfelt on my part and came from a very personal place and i still believe in it, so i'm really happy it's helped!
What post was it? <3
@Heather225 How can I be more active and earn badges and learn more ?
What are the more things I need to learn to become perfect ?
What would you like to suggest me for best practice?
@naazadvicehub
Welcome to our humble community family!
Firstly, i suggest reading through this guide that outlines how 7 Cups works: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1M53Nm5-pbtxx2_jKfXYgYzo3NgXxjNfMwfzVSRC1rZg/edit?tab=t.0
That guide serves as an orientation of sorts, and once you've gotten through that, you'll want to bookmark our main resource for listeners: the Listener Primer.
You earn badges in a variety of ways, including being automatically assigned, granted by Community Leaders, self nominated, and being nominated by fellow Listeners or members. You can see a list of badges that are available for Listeners here.
You don't need to be perfect! You just need to be you <3 If you'd like personalized support though on developing your listener skills, you can sign up for a coach or connect with a mentor, which we advise everyone do! Under your Training page, click Mentors and you can go from there.
I know this is a lot at first, but it'll make sense as you explore! If you have more questions lemme know!
