Hello,

I'm thrilled to meet you all! I am a 20-year-old (almost 21-year-old) girl struggling with a severe mental slump right now. It all started a few weeks ago when I had a significant life disruption involving my partner (I struggle with anxious attachment); however, I feel this incident has unveiled a deeper issue (lack of love for myself, low independence, and feeling like I do not know who I am). I am struggling with terrible depression right now and am excited to get support from others who understand what it is like and to help take back my life. It has been highly challenging lately, as I keep slipping into negative mindsets and getting upset when progress doesn't seem to be made. I try to connect with others (my boyfriend and family), but I feel isolated as I live alone and don't feel they can fully relate or understand.

I look forward to starting my healing journey and connecting with all of you!

@quietPenguin6743

I hope you find ways to grow and really know yourself ... it is a strength and many people find it out much later in life.  loving yourself feeling strong in yourself helps in almost every aspect the growth period to find that strength and confidence in yourself sometimes feels like it is barely moving....

@toughTiger6481 thank you! I am excited for my meds to work soon so I have more energy to learn more about myself! This sucks but think it will help me discover myself more hopefully and feel more fulfilled!

As an advice, I recommend you to read other people's stories or problems, and even better, try to help! Kindness is a great way to heal:)

Hello, am a fellow newbie and I can understand the anxious attachment style and depression especially the part of beating yourself up when you slip after making a lot of progress it feels like everything has gone down the drain. I would recommend you check out this books in your free time "Codependent No More" by Melody Beattie, which helped me to understand anxious attachment and just to include, "Childhood Emotional Neglect" by Jonice Webb incase your dealing with inability of your parents to understand you and it will also help you to understand what happened earlier in your life leading to these problems, hope this helps, welcome once again.
