Hello there !
Hi there,
I am not sure if I am posting this in the right spot or not, but my name is Liz and I have just joined. My avatar is my little Pomsky, Mia. I am very isolated and have zero to little social life and it can be very lonely at times. I keep myself busy by reading, listening to music, doing a few hours a day of cycling, caring for my 3 dogs and 2 cats, watching movies. Nice to be here. 💙

Only a few hours a day cycling, easy answer cycle more 🤪🤪 if you're like most cyclists I bet you have n+1 bikes 😁😁
I can't cycle to health reasons now, running just isn't the same. I'm also lonely and joining Cups has helped, welcome.

Howdy !
I have both osteoporosis and arthritis and a body that hurts quite a bit of the day. I am a cyclist but perhaps not classified as a ' real ' one as I use a stationary bike which I have positioned in front of the TV, so if I want to watch something the deal I made with myself is - get on that bike ! I do 2 to 3 hours per day and it has been instrumental in my finally getting to a decent weight for the first time since the 90s when I was still in my 30s.
@SugarFreePlumFaery
It all counts in my eyes, well done in getting your weight back down. I was born with Ankylosing Spondylitis, inflammatory arthritis in pelvis, hips and lower back, cycling kept the worst of the ankylosis at bay.
@RunningMachine
So these days what are you able to do without too much pain ?
@SugarFreePlumFaery
The arthritis particularly affected me throughout my twenties and the diagnosis wasn't confirmed until my early 30's, it has eased since then. I fortunately there is ankylosis that has obstructed a deep vein that runs through the pelvis and I'm checked annually now as the deep vein is 60% occluded. I still have to be a little mindful when I wake after sleep, avoid sitting or standing in one place too long as it becomes increasing painful and stiff. Fortunately I've still got full range of motion, a couple of my cousins haven't been so fortunate and I attribute that to a combination of cycling and regular Pilates and sheer *** kindness not to be beaten by it.
Unfortunately I have suffered a couple of pulmonary embolisms so no longer cycle as too dangerous on anticoagulants and occluded vein, so I just do conrrolled maintenance running to keep some fitness on a treadmill.
@RunningMachine
Wow, color me super impressed !!!
I have been taking Omega XL since Sept but no luck. My bathroom is filled with all sorts of creams and rubs. I am not sure why I hurt so much, perhaps my age, and the osteoporosis, or just doing too much. I am SO stiff when I get up, but as the day/nite progresses I loosen up a little ( still can not touch my toes ! )
It is amazing how you have not given up - well done !!! 👍
@SugarFreePkumFaery
Discovering I had arthritis was a blow, the 2 pulmonary embolisms were as close to death as it gets, being resuscitated and being reliant on a oxygen mask were all 'scary' but it taught me a lesson that has empowered me, and I'm reminded of every time I focus on my breath, life is valuable, breathing in oxygen is priceless.
Keeping myself as active, fit and as mobile as I can is my attempt to keep breathing. Be proud of yourself to cycle in front of the TV, I know I'd struggle, I don't particularly get on with TVs ð¤ªð¤ª
Hi Liz! Welcome in, I am very happy to see you here! And Mia is the cutest 😩❤️
@luvArisu
Hello there !
So nice to meet you - Mia, she is a ' lot of dog ' for the money. 20 pounds but there is a LOT of dog to that 20 pounds !!!!
I also have Edward who is a border collie with an intense stare who alternates between running in fright at the sound of pin dropping and bullying Gretchen with bared teeth !
Gretchen is a black and white Cockerpoo.
I also have a one eyed cat named Hope.
I have a wooden ornament on my kitchen wall that says ' My kids have paws ' - never a truer word spoken !!!
Awww I love your animal family! I have a Yorkshire girl, she has the biggest attitude! Although shes super cute and super cuddly 🫂
And I love that wooden ornament! Sounds funn💛
@luvArisu

Hi Liz, welcome to this beautiful and supportive community. feels like a neighborhood I never had. We talk, laugh more and compete in making others feel less lonely. Ironically we are sharing valentine playlist which I find nice. I’m single by the way, but loved the initiative. Its the love I can freely share unconditionally.
Genuinely you will never feel lonely here. Oh I haven’t been able to keep up :) Awesome people
