What brought you to 7 Cups?
(Remember, this is a safe space, so please only share what feels comfortable to you!)
@Heather225 something really bad happened in bed with my boyfriend a couple nights ago. I didn't agree to it. And then he left me because I cried. I don't want to get into too many NSFW details but it was horrible.
I also lost my job earlier that week and had earlier that month been bedridden with a blood infection I took home from Bali.
My friend told me to come here. I don't have a support network at all and I don't know what to do
I’m really sorry this happened to you. That must have been very painful and confusing. What happened is not your fault. Thank you for trusting us and sharing your story. You are not alone here. If you want to talk more, we are here to listen and support you.
@Heather225
There was a time when I needed someone to truly listen, but no one was there. That experience brought me here to 7 Cups as a Listener, so I can now be the lending ear that I once needed.
I know how much it hurts when no one cares.
I came here as a member while i was in an abusive relationship. i had a few great listeners who helped me through the process of being independent again and helped me get the courage to seek therapy. Now I am trying to be that light for the next person.
Thanks @Heather225 ✨🙏🏽✨
I came here looking for support… one night was truly difficult for me and searching for therapy I found 7 cups and that’s the most amazing thing that has happenings to me! I only met one good listener, that became “my on-line friend” and is no longer here. The rest of the listener experiences were not good, but the support in the chat rooms, the Mindfulness chats and the help that I have received when I need it the most has been so beneficial to me and my mental health✨ I have also been able to be there for “needs reply” posts and I am happy to give back even if it is in small ways 💫
I initially joined as member due to loneliness, I didn't know anyone could be a listener but I figured out I could be a listener too, so then I thought...why not?
I've always been passionate about giving people a safe space to let out all their bottled up feelings, and I wanted to be there for those going through a rough patch in their lives, just how I wanted someone to be there for me through my lows...
And healing others heals a parts of me, it just feels so rewarding, to be someone's ray of light in the storm.... To be someone I needed the most ❤️🩹
@Heather225
I decided to follow old advice about becoming a listener on the first day of the confinements in Canada (March 2020). I had a hobby then which was a long whitework embroidery but I did not want to spend all day on that.
I came here as a listener
Because for so long I just did not have a purpose in life
And then I started here and found my purpose again. I felt like I belonged, and I never have felt that way. Like I mattered and that I was making a difference
And then I was stupid and ruined it
The best thing that happened to me in my life, gone in the blink of an eye
I feel like a stone being dropped into a cold empty lake. And it's my own fault
Depression and such, but honestly, probably COVID.
I first learned about 7 Cups (at the time, it was 7 Cups of Tea) as a college student completing my master's degree in 2015. At the time I signed up as a listener, I wrote that there were many talkers and not enough listeners. It is 11 years later and I still believe that.
@Heather225 I came to 7 cups to help anyone struggling with some of the same issues I used to struggle with so I can give guidance and help others get to a place of self-understanding.
