@Tazzie

So Ive been trying to make a personal request that fits more of what kind of listener Im looking for and it wont let me chat with them. It says I have to earn trust? Im not sure what all thats about and when I can eventually make a personal request.

@amiableJet9817 I've seen other reports about this. It seems to be a new feature, or maybe a new bug. I haven't seen any announcement about it, not even an announcement for listeners.

You might be able to post in Members Classifieds to say what kind of listener you're looking for, and hopefully a suitable listener will contact you. You could even tag particular listeners when you post there.

Hi @amiableJet9817 I think this is a system in place to keep this site a bit safer. As you might know, the internet can have some mean people on it who could create new accounts to harass certain people. Having members need to go through a couple of general request chats first helps so that they can't just create an account and continue messaging a particular person. I know it's tough if you found someone you think you'd be a great match with, but you will be able to soon :) Sometimes you can find a wonderful match through the general requests too! It's all about keeping 7Cups a safe and positive place :) But as Charlie mentioned, listeners are still able to contact you first, so you could always try reaching out in the forums to see if they'll send you a message!

@TaranWanderer Is this just one way or does it go both? The harrassment comes from listener accounts too.

@AffyAvo good question! I honestly don't know, I've just noticed this happening for new member accounts lately and just made inferences as to why :( I have no insights otherwise...seems like it might be useful for listener accounts too, to only be able to take from the general queue at first, but I don't know if that's a thing or not

@TaranWanderer You're right. This is a new feature related to the discussion here: Intervention for People that are Trolling I think it's very unfortunate that it was implemented without announcement or explanation, even though an update was promised in that thread.

I agree, something like it might be useful for listener accounts too.

@Tazzie

@goodFarm8466 Feeds were removed in November 2019 and they have not been replaced (yet).

You can keep a diary instead, even though it's not quite the same.

@RarelyCharlie

ok, I meant how do you add a post which is not to a pre-existing thread.

@goodFarm8466 To create a new thread, go to the area of the forum where you want the thread to appear and press the Create New Thread button.

If you can't decide where is best, you could create your new thread in General Entries.

I'm new here why do you have to pay for the other services Low income and would like to have the other services but I can't afford to pay for all of them?

@Cath73 Do you mean therapy? You have to pay for therapy because therapists are professionals who require payment for the work they do. You do not have to pay to chat to listeners, because listeners are unpaid volunteers.

Hi, I'm new and had a couple of quick questions. Once we become a listener, would that be considered the internship? If not, where can I go about applying to get an internship (hours tracked/certificate) ?

Thank you and I've enjoyed my experience on this site so far.

@kindlove334 No, once you become a listener, internship is optional.

If you are a listener your hours are tracked and you can get certificates on your Certification page. You do not need to be an intern for that.

For information about internship have a look around the 7 Cups Internship subcommunity.

Why do I get this same message on three different tries, when attempting to send a personal request:

Glad you are here! Messaging is not currently available for the listener you selected. To chat with the next available listener, click "Connect Now" below. Or post to the Members Classifieds to seek a listener who meets your needs.

@AwkwardFascination I do know I get that sometimes and it's usually just a bit of a glitch. Going to somewhere else on the site - community home page for example, and then trying again usually works.

There's the possibility though it's also tied to some change that hasn't yet been explained and the message is glitching. It sounds like in order to connect with a listener some criteria is needed but what exactly that is hasn't been explained. Hopefully more information is ocming soon.

@AwkwardFascination

It could be connection issues or some glitch. Thank you for bringing this to our attention!

@AwkwardFascination As far as I know this happens when you try to send a message to a listener who isn't available. 7 Cups doesn't know when the listener will log in again and see the message. In fact the listener might have left 7 Cups and never see it.

A personal request is different. It's when the listener is online and has a Chat Now button. As far as I know you should not see that message when you make a personal request. But this is a new feature and it might have bugs.

Hi. I'm wondering if I can just sign up for one month of chatting with a therapist if that's all I can afford?

@susanitamn Hi there I do not know on this but I do know you are in control of how long you want to continue paying $150 a month. I suggest you look into this link its info on therapists here. Ask your question. Also you can cancel your paying any time.

Why cant the 35and 50 plus rooms be either permanent or open more often? I never seem to be available when they are and would really like to see them more often.

Will there ever be a way to edit your own post? I'm curious about why this isn't possible/ why members have to go through mods. Sometimes I regret what I type and feel awful that people can see potentially triggering things I typed on impulse. Though self- censoring may not be the answer, I'd rather not harm anyone while I feel low

@Lexloveslife It is technically possible, but it's not as easy as it seems. They would have to lock your post as soon as anyone replies or upvotes it, because you might change the meaning and invalidate replies or upvotes. A locking mechanism like that is tricky to implement, and doing it well would be relatively costly. So I don't imagine it will ever be introduced at 7 Cups.
