Hello to my fellow newbies and anyone else who happens to wander by. I'm Vicki aka Avandria, feel free to use either.

I have a wealth of issues, though I can normally keep them fairly well controlled. I have either depression, major depressive disorder, or one of the bi-polar disorders depending upon which of my past docs you choose to listen to. I definitely have an anxienty disorder with panic attacks and social anxiety that's strong enough to make it difficult to leave my house frequently. I have PTSD, possible adult ADHD with hyperfocus, but total avoidance of anything actually productive. To top it all off....I have Fibromyalgia and have had two traumatic brain injuries so my memory and word recall is a mess, not to mention the constant pain, sleep issues, and other fun that go along with it.

When we had to enter a reason for joining I couldn't figure out what to put. I had only intended to join to respond to one post, though I now plan to stay. I had a heck of a time figuring out what to put, so I chose the stuck option, and I really am stuck at this point. A couple of months ago something changed, I don't have any idea what, but now I can easily sleep for 16 hours straight, wake up and nap on the couch all day and fall right back asleep at bedtime. Other days I'll actually feel wide awake, but will literally fall asleep IN my dinner or while talking on the phone. I'm so constantly exhausted that I can barely function at this point. Oh and on the days when I don't have Hypersomnia, I tend to be an insomniac...have been since childhood. It would make sense if the days of extreme sleep followed the days of no sleep, but they don't. That would be too easy.

I have an in lab sleep study in a couple of weeks. Hopefully it will help, but I suspect they'll just recommend a CPAP and send me on my way. I try to deal with most of my issues without medication when possible, but I have so much I need and want to do...even just around the house that I desperately wish they would just give me a pill to make me go to sleep and a stimulant to help me stay awake. At least for a while so we can see if it passes.

Thanks to Obamacare and state Medicaid extensions I'm currently sitting in a little window where I actually have health coverage for once. I haven't been able to work for years, but didn't fight for disability like I should have the first time they turned me down. I actuallly had current medical records then. I have to get on disability, unless of course that goes away to, so on top of everything else I'm trying to work with my new Medicaid Doctor (who I'm totally overwhelming to, I can see it in her eyes) to address and document as many of my issues as I can while I have a chance. How can you get disability if you have no recent medical records? How can you get medical records if you don't have insurance and can't afford to go to the doctor.

So that's me. Stuck, both physically and literally and desperate for the energy to get out of this rut and do something besides sleep. With Fibro and all the rest my life may not look like it used to, but I had adjusted and was learning to be reasonably content (I'm never really happy....I'm not sure how that actually works). What I'm living now though...it's not life.

Well, that got long and somewhat darker than intended. I'm somewhat depressed about the whole thing, but more frustrated than anything. I know that doctors can't just hand out pills, but it's common to give people with Fibro sleeping medications and Fibro and Chronic Fatigue are so similar that many consider them to be different parts of the same syndrome and they give stimulants to people with Chronic Fatigue.

And...I'm babbling again. It's a total insomnia night, but I have plans with family tomorrow that I absolutely cannot sleep through so I suppose I shall try to sleep again.

I look forward to getting to know some of you. I promise not to write an entire novel everytime I post something. Or at least I promise to try not to. :)
