@Heather225

Hi, I came here to find community and use the tools I have learned in therapy to help others. I am trying to complete an internship and need to be able to effectively communicate with others about their feelings.

Hi everyone 👋 I’m Spirit, I discovered and joined the community a few days ago.

I’ve spent the last 10 years studying the cause and treatment of suffering - a quest for hope and understanding after a long struggle to find my place in the world.

While I’m fascinated by all areas of psychology and human experience, I found my deepest connection and understanding came after discovering Jung’s collective unconscious, Zen philosophy, and the mythology of ancient cultures.

I’d love to connect with anyone with similar interests, and I’m delighted to be here amongst you.

Hope you have a wonderful stay here, and trust me, I'm sure our community would love to engage with you on this topic💙

Hi, agree!  I've studied yoga and vedanta philosophy on and off for many years. There's something very grounding about ancient philosophy. We have a lot of untapped healing power within us this all points it's not outside ourselves.

From yoga I learned deep breathing, hold the in breath let it go, hold the out breath let it go, repeat all through the nose. Meditation, start in short spirts if you get antsy, 15 minutes, a half hour, 45 minutes and so forth, just let your mind drift don't try to stop your thoughts watch them.  Vedanta philosophy looks at life like a movie playing in front of you, check out Rupert Spira, he gives very gentle talks on YouTube. Enjoy solitude if you are alone don't see it as loneliness if you can. I can only speak for myself, this is what works for me. All the best.

@bindugirl Hey! 👋 I’m so sorry for this delayed response, I closed out the notification and it took me a sec to find this again.

Thank you for your response, it’s not easy to capture insights learned along your way, and I appreciate you sharing this. I’ll absolutely look into your recommendation, thank you!

Throughout your studies and experience, has there ever been a moment where you felt your worldview shift, and if so, what do you think provoked this change?

@Spirit0ftheM0untain

No worries, I started going to a yoga center near me years ago for posture classes, it was founded by a woman from Calcutta and very authentic. I moved on to Sunday morning meditation classes consisting of deep breathing and chanting. From there I went to talks guided by her, she was considered a Gurani, or feminine Guru. It just made so much sense. Having been raised Catholic all I got was Jesus's story which to me seemed like a metaphor for what we all go through at the hands of others. And not much else. It's about remaining at peace regardless of what's going on. The breathing exercises assist tremendously with physical anxiety and meditation calms the mind. Only 7 years ago did I come upon Vedanta philosophy through talks given by Rupert Spira on YouTube. His calming talks pulled my prior learning together.  I'm not saying it's easy, I'm just saying it's extremely helpful for me. I've still had my trials believe me, that I'd like to run away from. But what I learned has been a true constant. I don't look for meaning I accept that things just are. As I grow older I remove myself as much as I can from any drama that I can control. Being empathetic I've always wanted to help if I could but now I want to help myself in this way more so. I hope you find some understanding here, ty.

Welcome, I've never considered myself spiritual but since joining Cups late December I am questioning that. I do resonate with Buddhist philosophy and your post has sparked my inquisitive mind, thank you.

Hi everyone 🌼!! My name is Val, and I’m new here. I joined 7 Cups because I believe in the power of talking and listening sometimes just having someone who truly hears you can make a huge difference. I hope to connect with people, learn from their experiences, and offer support wherever I can.

As a listener, I signed up because of my passion in psychology and genuinely wanting to help others feel heard and understood, without judgment. I know that life can get overwhelming at times, and I hope to create a safe space for anyone who needs to share their thoughts or feelings. I’m here to listen, offer empathy, and just be a supportive presence. 💛🫂

Ah well, I clicked post too soon... I signed up because I know what it is to feel alone sometimes and am always a person who is very eager to help. Additionally, though, I've always been a listener for my friends. When I was little, I used to pretend to have my own "TV show" to cheer my friends up about their concerns. Although I don't do it that often now, I wanted to give in other ways, and 7cups was the perfect opportunity to do that.

Nooo don’t say failing 😭 you’re literally out here trying and that already counts for so much 🥰

Becoming the best version of yourself isn’t a straight line — it’s more like a chaotic little scribble and you’re doing just fine 👻

Proud of you always. Take care too 😎

thanks I light the angle about not a straight line

it’s like climbing a mountain lots of ups and sometimes so big steps and the odd section of flat or even down, but whatever don’t fall off.
