After just eight hours without eating, your body will begin to use stored fats for energy. Your body will continue to use stored fat to create energy throughout the rest of the day. It is generally safe to go 24 hours without eating (if you don't have any health conditions that require you to eat), but any longer than that can become dangerous. Your metabolism will slow down and your body will start using stored proteins for energy. If you're doing it as a fast and plan to go back to eating soon then it's not a big deal, but if you're starving yourself and plan to go longer than 24 hours or just a few days then that can become a serious problem where you would require medical attention. If you're choosing not to eat for a day, make sure you're at least drinking enough water to compensate.

Your body is like a machine and it needs fuel to properly do its job. It's incredibly important to fuel your body with healthy foods and water. Our bodies do so much for us and we need to take care of them. If we don't eat for a day, our bodies will be under stress and feel weak. Our bodies influence our mind and not taking care of our physical health can cause problems with our mental and emotional health as well. If you're struggling with disordered eating, you're not alone. You are so strong and can get through this.
