Dear Body: A Letter to Yourself
by ASilentObserver
Last post
August 30th
...See more Hello everyone, Have you ever paused to take a moment to think about your relationship with your body?  We often have complex feelings about our bodies – sometimes love and appreciation, other times frustration or even dislike.  I guess it is all part of the journey. This exercise is part of Eating Disorder Awareness Week [https://www.7cups.com/forum/groupmod/GroupSupportCommunityEvents_2295/JoinUsforEatingDisordersAwarenessWeekFebruary24thFeb28_347433/].  As we celebrate the EDAW [https://www.7cups.com/forum/groupmod/GroupSupportCommunityEvents_2295/JoinUsforEatingDisordersAwarenessWeekFebruary24thFeb28_347433/], we are inviting you to participate in a meaningful exercise: writing a letter to your body.  It is your safe space to express *any* feelings you have, whether positive, negative, or somewhere in between.  Maybe you want to thank your body for its strength and resilience, or maybe you need to express some frustrations.  You can even share your hopes for your body's future. Please know there are no rules here.  You need to be honest, be vulnerable, and be you.  It is more about connecting with yourself and fostering a more mindful and kind relationship with your body. You can do it two ways:  1. Take a piece of paper and pen and write a letter to yourself. And let us know if you did it here in this thread and how did it make you feel.  2. If you are comfortable sharing your letter with us, you can share it here in this thread and we all can reflect and further discuss it as you feel comfortable.   3. Anyone can do this exercise and not limited to the ones who struggle with ED.  Whether you choose to share it with us or keep it private is entirely up to you.  We are simply here to encourage and support you on this journey of self-discovery and acceptance. Who's ready to write their letter?  Let's begin

...See more Hi everyone! I’m new here as a listener and wanted to introduce myself. I’m here to offer a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space for anyone who needs someone to talk to. I also have my own history with eating disorder struggles and body dysmorphia, so this is a topic that means a lot to me. I know everyone’s experience is different, but I hope I can be someone who listens with understanding and compassion. 💛

...See more i don't know why i do this... i can promise to never eat again, but as soon as there's a plate of food in front of me, i start binging like crazy. i eat huge portions and even get seconds... my mom used to feed me insane amounts (>1000 cal per meal, but it was because i kept asking for larger sizes), but now i live away from home so i can control my own food. but even now, after i finish eating, ill be tempted to walk all the way to the store again to buy more food to eat... which feels so weird, because i genuinely feel blinded by food for like an hour or two after eating it...

...See more hi, nice to meet you. i'll do a short presentation on why im here. i'm a student at an university art faculty, but i'm going to graduate very soon, at the end of this month. i'm afraid of the future, as my ideal work goals are clear but very difficult to reach. not knowing what i'm going to do and where i will be in a month scares me so much. adding to this, recently my routine stopped being consistent and i relapsed to my binge eating addiction. last year, while i was abroad for an erasmus project, i felt extremely lonely and abandoned my people back tovmy country that i seeked comfort in binge eating, which led to gain a lot of weight. once i came back home, i started a very restrictive diet and excercise that helped me not only lose the excessive weight, but also more than that (i never suffered from overweight, and after that not even underweight tho). my body image peaked at that time, but people around me were very scared of my rapid weight loss and were preoccupied. and here we are again. after some time, i decided to be less strict with my diet and did intuitive eating, and everything seemed good, but once i stopped going to class because of the end of university, i spent more time at home which led me to daily binge eating again from stress and boredom, this time followed by extremely eccessive sport. my weight fluctuates a lot, i am constantly overworked, tired and constipated. after every binge, i know ithe result is that my body and brain will be in pain, but once i start eating i cannot stop. i cannot see gray, everything is either black or white. either i go to my restrictive diet or i keep binging. i feel at my lowest now, because i knew how beautiful i was when i was skinnier. everyone was worried but they complimented me. and this harmed my self esteem.

My experience & concerns

...See more I don't have anything diagnosed yet, but I'm afraid I may be anorexic. I've been feeling guilty after eating ever since I can remember, I started skipping meals 2 years ago, then started eating again but now it got so much worse. I have a calorie counting app and I eat 400kcal a day, starving almost all the time. When I eat, I eat only small meals and avoid "normal" meals, eating only ones like oatmeal on water or cucumber with yogurt. A while ago I also created a Pinterest board with "goals" and "allowed meals", as well as a Spotify playlist about how I feel. One of my friends knows about this and is incredibly concerned but I just can't stop. I feel so much better than before once I started eating less and I know what it can lead to or just how unhealthy it is but I just can't stop now. I'm closer to my dream body than ever before, I don't want to stop, ever. A year ago I weighted 60kg, my current weight is around 50kg and my goal is 40/35kg or less. Yes, I'm aware it's very unhealthy and unnatural and that I'd look like skin and bones but I don't mind, as long as I don't feel guilty in my own body for just existing. I don't expect a response from anyone, but i just wanted to tell someone about it, even if it's just through a website.

How I cured my 20 year eating disorder
by Monistewart

...See more I had anorexia when I was 14 which then developed into serious, ruining my life bulimia for over 20 years. I tried many different things, therapy, willpower, travel, work, healthy eating, exercise but the compulsion would never go away. Then I met a lady who was a Dianetics counsellor and she explained to me about the reactive mind and how compulsions and destructive impulses stem from that mind. I took a series of counselling sessions with her and within 20 hrs, I found the cause and completely handled it. The obsessive compulsion blew and disappeared and for the first time in over 20 years I could start living my life. I was really amazed and wanted to see if this was a stable win. And after some weeks, I could truly see that the compulsion  was really gone and now I was in control of my life.  So I want to give hope to anyone struggling and know that there is a solution

feeling gross after consumption

...See more I've been trying to get better recently- or snap out of my head I guess. And I just wanted to ask how many other people feel physically gross when they eat? Sure I'm paranoid about food and there's alor of anxiety and stuff mixed up in there. But whenever I eat, afterwards I feel disgusting. Like, I can feel the food in my stomach and feel my organs moving as they digest That's what gets me, feeling my organs move and being hyperaware of what they're doing after I eat- the process of physically feeling my food digest- it's literally makes me feel gross and lethargic for a few hours I was just wondering if anyone else has experience with this. Feeling gross after eating in the sense you can literally feel your organs moving as they do the normal digestive process. Does anyone else know what I'm talking about?
