I binge and purge even though it makes me feel awful because of following reasons: 1 Negative mood states 2 Interpersonal stress 3 Hunger due to dietary restriction 4 Negative feelings related to one’s body image 5 Laxatives 6 Diuretics 7 Self-induced vomiting 8 Excessive Exercise
There's no right answer to this, I questioned it a lot myself. Just keep fighting the urges, you'll get through this.
Binging and purging are often used together when someone has an unhealthy approach to food. Binge eating can bring the person a sense of comfort because they are having emotional/physical hardships, and purging often results because the person will feel guilty about eating and try to 'clean' their bodies of food they view as dirty. Even though it is a vicious cycle and makes you feel miserable, the desire to get the comfort from food and then having this enormous sense of guilt from that binge are so strong, because that person does not know how to cope in any other way.
For some people binging and purging becomes a habit. We use it as a way to reduce our anxiety. Even though when we think about it rationally we know it makes us feel bad, in that moment it is a compulsion. It is a coping strategy for reducing anxiety. Until we develop other strategies to deal with that anxiety the 'habit' will continue.
There is a mental trauma or experience that causes you to do this things to yourself. Please seek help to find out the root cause and how to deal.
it gives me another reason to blame my friends and family. when they ignore me, don't want to see me, don't care about me, this is what happens. they have driven me to self destruction.
You are having the urge to fit in within your peers and it makes it easier to binge and purge knowing that you will be like them.
Because it is a coping method, or it has been for you at some point. You used it to cope with your struggles, and now it's become some kind of "reflex". When you face a problem, your first reflex is to binge and purge even though you feel awful about it. You can't help it; binging/purging has proven useful some times and now your mind is set to do it every time.
