my biggest struggle in my 30s (i am 37 years old) is my battle with depression.

on the positive side, psychiatry and advancements in medicine leave me with little to no problems.

once you believe in psychiatry, therapy and medicine, your problems are little to none.

depression is not a lonely path, but many who have it refuse to seek help.

@NewYorker9

Hope you are having a better day today, neighbour!

I believe medicine has a long way to go to fix depression. I think their approach to psychotherapy is wrong after seeing numerous therapists and programs etc, which each helped about 2% each, I found more healing in speaking with those that had lived experince. Those individuals had some real solutions. Man made drugs are not where they should be. Often researchers say they do not even know how the chemical imbalance pathyways in the brain work. So how can they make a drug. Also,I think a lot of health comes straight from non genetically modified foods. Natual foods. Have you ever read Deliciously Ella's blog from the UK? She got off her drugs and regained her health. Amazing story. Plus, if we all as humans step back and look at lives of ppl with depression the story is 90% of the time the same. They lack a sense of strong bonds with people, a sense of community/belonging, purpose or sense of loss. One of the key factors of depression is the break down of society. Why can corporations forget overstuffing their wallets and just have some basic regards towards human suffering?

When I was a kid I thought the adults would get it together and by the time I was an adult we would have health care, equality, equity, we'd take care of each other, the government would be there for the people and not for the profit. The worst thing about my 30's is struggling with being sane in an insane society.

I think this is where my depression comes from. Feelings of being stuck.

The 30's have proven to be tough on me healthwise. I didn't think 30 was the new 60. LOL.

Yeah, you really start to take notice if you're body being less cooperative with stuff once you enter your 30's, didn't see that coming either lol. Hope your problems are relatively benign like most of mine (with the exception of 1 thing that does suck) and good health to both of us for hopefully quite some time to come...

A big struggle I have in my 30s is that I never had self-discipline enough to work out every day before. Now I do, and I work out every day, but my hormones are changing and my body wants to gain weight because I'm getting older. So even though I'm putting in the effort, I'm fighting the totally normal and natural changes of my body. My kid can eat a mountain of food and lay around doing nothing all day and still be "skinny fat" and I can count calories and work out every day and still be overweight. It is a daily struggle.

It is stress that also keeps the weight on. Having kids and living life is hard.

Hi,

I'd say getting rosacea on my face and being informed it's hormonal and typical to get in my thirties. I have it for life, have treatments and medication. It's a bit irksome at times, is all.

Oof, harsh, that's the one thing you'd expect to leave behind in your twenties along with acne and the like, not show up when you enter your 30's lol. Glad to hear medication is working out well, that must be a relief! (I myself have suffered from bad skin throughout my 20's and can attest it sucks, luckily with the help of meds I could leave it behind me also).

I am ridden with fear that I will not be able to deal with life. That I will loose everything. I am on edge and cannot enjoy the blessings. I wish I had money, was well known, valued, loved, have a spouse and kids, all these expectations. But not only expectation, I actually want some of them. I remember when I was in my 20s, the idea of finding a man, you know the kind that will listen, be kind, respectful, help you meet financial security, will cuddle you and tell you everything will be okay. Then in my 30s, realized, that description is of a Mom and that getting married is actually a lot worse than you can imagine. Society glamorizes it, so that people continue to stress shop whrn they have fights with their spouse.

Yes this life is not set up to care about people's mental health. We need connections and a sense of belonging.

I took ketamine infusion treatments at the hospital for depression, 3 infusions a week for a month, then 2 per week for another month, then once a week for another month.

After that, my hair started falling out rapidly. I now have lost 90%of my hair and it still is falling out. I do not see anything growing back. I can see my scalp and loosing your hair in your 30s as a woman is the end of hope at finding the love of my life. No man dreams of a balding woman.

It is currently 3 a.m. as I write this. It is my 32nd birthday. The last five years have been an uphill battle where the hill sometimes seems to be growing taller.

However, I made it here to today.

I could have made good on my plan 3 years ago, I could have pulled the trigger.

I'm always humbled when I look back on that day, despite that I had to witness the end of my own father's life, despite being homeless twice, despite having my heart broken many times over, despite it all... I am still here...

I still have hope, not for a good life, instead I hope to continue to move forward into an unknown destiny with curiosity, determination, patience, and a pure and honest love.

And I hope for all of you who may be going through something similar know that it is all finite and fleeting, and thus, except the moment and allow it to pass.

sensations may linger, some thoughts may persist and they always will, but I assure you and guarantee you that you have the right to whether or not you are consumed by it.

For my solution; meditation was and still is an extremely significant factor. It helped me to organize my thoughts and emotions; to simply observe them rather than judge them.

this doesn't mean that medication from psychiatry and therapy from psychology are not tools I have used. all I can say about that is that they work better for some than others.

Whatever you're means, the only thing that matters is that you don't give up!

Very well said! Thank you for posting and you are a strong person. I like that you see the future with curiosity. I heard that once from someone and think it is a healthy way to view like. I honestly am also unsure what about life that people see as great because I have also had many challenges that were not the most positive. It is ironic as my first 25 years of my life was the ideal life. A loving family that gave you all that you needed and want without spoiling you. Teaching good work ethics and all that good stuff. Great connections with people, etc. It's just the past 8 years has been a string of unfortunate events. the most recent has been the lost of my mother and at the same time the loss of a man I admired. The only two people that believed in me and told me that. I am left to guide myself and unsure as to what to do.

Hello Everyone that posted to this thread. I need everyone’s weigh in on this one.

It just hit me, that I might be in love with a married man...... and........ he might like me. All this time i kept saying, we are just good friends but where is the line? Neither of us will ever let anything happen, no, never! First question; where is the line? Because if it is more than friends then I just have to cut him out of my life completely and that is going to hurt. Need some guidelines to be certain.

I read this below, what do you think?

"If a married man’s feelings are genuine for you he wouldn’t come chasing you from the word go. He will be fighting his feelings for you because he has a wife, a family to think about. Also if you are single he wouldn’t really want you to get entangled in a relationship that has no future and if you are married he is thinking of the hurt an affair would cause both the spouses.

Looking away when he sees you, not answering your texts, ignoring you in front of others could be signs that a married man is fighting his feelings for you but he loves you secretly. "

Second question: Is any of the above quote true?

Third question: is there any way to be friends with him and nothing more. He makes me feel so safe, actually listens to me, we have good conversations, he always has time for me. He is funny as heck. It is really weird, the guy is like 23 years older.

It sucks as I am really in a low point in life, no idea what direction I should go with my career or if it’s time to abandon ship and reinvent. Several people close to me have passed away, no significant person of my own and recovering from the trauma of being stalked by someone for a few years, as well as depression issues. It is nice to just have at least one person in my life who understands and encourages, to be by your side while life is still sorting itself out. But I know.. life is meant to be dealt with on our own.

Fourth question: How to move on? When will the pain of separation go away?

I am sorry no one replied sooner or at all. You seem quiet conflicted on this matter.

It is okay to love someone, no matter who it is. Hearts fall for people. If we take a step back and look at the bigger picture, I do not think you need to figure anything out. The brain always likes to figure things out but that can be an exercise you do until the cows come home, and still not get anywhere.

Accept that you both may love each other but he is a married man, it is best to walk away. I know, easier said then done and I am sure I am missing a lot of the story but it is not worth hurting a marriage. Marriages are difficult in itself. I know you will hate me for saying that and I am sorry for adding to the pain.

I know you need a friend right now and someone to listen to you and it was him. Maybe think about if there is anyone in your circle that you can talk to about the same stresses in life. You might have to really take an inventory but I have faith that you can find others that can replace some conversations you would have.

I know you are strong and resourceful! I know you will get through the other side. You just need to accept what is in your heart, decide to let go, and seek out new sources. You got this! Take good care of yourself and be gentle.

@SweetPearCrumble Hi! From the experience of life I have If there are feelings from both side, it will hardly only be a friendship. We can only control our feelings up to a certain point. Anyway as long as no one cheats you are all adults so you should decide who makes you happier. Honesty is essential.
