The biggest struggle I've experienced is this expectation that since I'm in my 30s I should already have my life together, have achieved all my goals, and be in a comfortable situation by now.

@integrityblues

With the state of the world now, we won't have our lives together until we are 50. So go easy on yourself

@integrityblues I totally felt this in my soul! I think it's pressure that we allow others to place on us! Everyone's goals and inspirations is so different and I had to learn not to place such a expection on myself! Whatever is meant for me no one else can ever take away..

Lonely 30's

I'm in my 30's, all alone, with (what feels like) no friends, and not a single soul checking up on me!

Usually I'm the one checking up on everyone, making sure they are oky, cheering them up, and making them laugh, but no one do that for me! So I stopped talking to everyone, as the phone works both ways, and now I realize that there's no one for me.

I tried to reach out, and ask for help, but no one seems to notice that the used "me" they used to know is gone, so now I'm standing here, all alone with not a single soul who cares

I know the feeling. I will check up on you! If that is worth anything. This world is lonely. If only the lonely could find the other lonley to fix this. There are so many people paired up or with kids but yet we find all the lonely peoole here because we have no one to be with.

I feel the same way. I had friends in my school days, but I was always the one initiating all our conversations and asking everyone if they have time to hang out. Then, in my 20s, I decided to give up on a friendship because I got so tired being the person who wants to keep the relationship going, when the other person is making no effort at all. Now, in my 30s, I'm all alone too. No more friends, still single, and a family that doesn't really understand my depression. Once in a while, I'd get that one odd person to message me to see how things are, and that person seems to always message me just as I'm about to go to bed. So, we can't chat for long. Then, I won't get another message until a month or so later~

I can relate, in my 30's all alone. I was always the one calling people to see how they are, ever since I stopped the only reason people contact me is to brag about their life. I honestly do not understand their thinking, if they don't care enough about me to see how I'm doing then why do they care about bragging to me about their personal belongings. I might sound bitter but I'm honestly baffled and I would like to understand.

@RationalWest I think it's human nature to want to talk about ourselves. It's what we know. Lol, it takes such a consciousness and being present to take into account other perspectives and other people's' feelings. I struggle with this too, but I get it. How are you?? 30's are a hard time so far

Making and maintaining friendships. I have a lot of acquaintances, but nobody I can call a real friend. I'm surrounded by a lot of people that will post "uplifting" things to social media about checking in on your friends, but never actually doing it. I call them "friends in a bubble", but don't ever count on them to come through when it counts. There's such a push to "konmari" toxic and negative people that it's awkward to be open about what you're struggling with as not to be that person that ruined everyone else's good time.

Having to wear the mask that proclaims "I'm okay" to the world just to get through the day- at work, out with friends, wherever. Having to smile and go about the normal while really just wanting to scream at the next person who just...exists because there's a need to get my feelings OUT, just to be heard. Having to tell myself to just "suck it up, buttercup" for happy hour with your "bubble friends", because we, as humans, need social interaction and contact with others- never mind the fact that making up a lie about how you're "busy with work" because you really want to just sit at home and watch Netflix is so much easier. It's not isolation if it's self-care, right?

All the things I used to find easy and used to be able to be able to cope with became terrifying and overwhelming in my 30's. I feel as though I haven't felt comfortable in my own skin yet. I'm concerned about my future and I can't seem to get my career on the right path to where I will actually be able to make something of myself. I look to the older generations and the things that they had acheived by the time they were my age just bamboozle me and I wonder "what the hell is wronge with me!". I have definitely lost a tremendous amount of self-confidence and I really don't know how to flourish.

I do feel as though technology has moved extremely quickly and people's attitudes and interactions have suffered as a result. I recently travelled to Europe and to a country that I felt was probably a good 20 years behind in technology and popular culture and I really felt comfortable in this setting.

I'm worried about the prospect of having children or having had waited far to long to have them in the first place. I'm not convinved that we live in the kind of world that I want to bring children in to anyway or that I am going to be secure enough to provide for them and to give them a good life.

I know this post isn't new but I stumbled upon it trying to find a safe space. As I close in on my 40's Im struggling more and more with my body.
I have a 13 year old girl and I want to portray positive body image and self love but it's so HARD! And has alway been this way for me. But as we age the pounds come on and don't fall off as easy.

ive lost the weight and put it back on.. over and over. I am open to any tips to help accept myself as I try to deal with weight. It's literally consuming me.
And as a stress eater these days are SUPER tough

thanks :-) for sticking around

I have several colleagues doing the intermittent fasting. They fast for 18hrs and only eat for 6hrs. They've lost weight and some say they even sleep better at night. Of course, they would also try and eat more healthy foods during the eating period. Once they've done it for 2 weeks, they don't feel hungry. During those 18hrs, you're allowed to drink water or coffee, just nothing solid and no snacking!~

Time to have a sit down with your husband and tell him what makes you feel loved, let hi know this is a deal breaker in your marriage and if he does not step up to the plate, go for the older guy.

Realizing that your concept of Love is a complete illusion and Reality Grounds you and hits you hard. To worsen things realizing that you have been pressured to get a couple and you are unable to fulfill your emotional needs.

I realized my depreasion started when my communities around me broke down. Around 2010, I graduated univerity, both my siblings got married, mom got sick and Dad aged. My groups of belonging have disentigrated. My workplaces did not provide a community. I never found someone to marry or have kids. I have not been hugged/cuddled for 10 years, had someone besides Mom ( who has passed in oct,2019) ask how am I doing and actually cared or wanted to cheer me up but yet I do that for those around me. I am a sidekick to everyone's life as they have spouses and childre of their own that show them love. There is no love for me, I don't know why I am unloveable and not worthy of anyone's time. Yet married people, say I am such a catch, single people sure dont think so.

Biggest Struggles of My 30s? Depression. I've always struggled. But I think the reality of it being a lifelong illness is a hard hit. In my teens and 20s it was just something I needed to get through from time to time. Therapy and medication has helped me conquer it many times. But after my 4th baby, post partum depression kicked my butt. And now i just kinda swim in iT. I'm comfortable depressed. I've isolated myself over the years and became comfortable with that too. It's like my whole life I've had phases of being a happy healthy minded person but I'm always falling back into depression, not matter my circumstances. So I dont know if I have more trouble trying to be the person I want to be OR if I should just accept who I am and will probably always be? And in that same note, I'm not sure where to put my energy, fighting depression or accepting it. But my older kids are definately aware and affected by my depression. They're 14 & 16y and sometimes struggle themselves. I want to be a good example but I'm so defeated. I cant pull myself out of it how can I help them? We've done therapy and support groups and school counselors, I dont know why it's not enough.

The Quran also advises us on this and it has been so true. A scripture with zero mistakes, no contradictions and 100% from God (Allah). 20:124 ‘And whoever turns away from My remembrance, indeed he will have a depressed life and 13:28 ‘Verily in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest
