I’m not sure where to start after a 7 year relationship ended. I know healing and acceptance is step 1 which I’ve already started to do but I am terrified about how to start dating for marriage. We we were not married and I don’t have any children. Any recommendations on where to start

Start with you! Date yourself (silly, I know). But the more you can learn about yourself and find who you truly are, the easier the dating scene will be.

Do things you love and radiate happiness and the right one will find you! Focus on you now, while you can! :)

@kindLion222 seven years is along time, firstly I'm sorry to hear that and healing takes time. I would personally join a new club or get out socialising. I often hear people say I can't meet anyone and I say have you been going out and they say no, and I think, where did you expecg to meet them. You can have some fun in less pressurised situations and things can grow organically that way 💜🥰

36 years old is young. I’m sorry to hear about your relationship ending but think of it like a chance for a new beginning. You can rise again like a phoenix. I know what it’s like to date someone for years getting engaged and than to be left broken up with a week before my wedding. I was 30 and starting over felt overwhelming at first but I realized it was also a blessing. I would recommend starting by enjoying time with yourself. There’s so many amazing things you can discover about yourself once you have this new sense of freedom. You can spend the time finding things about you that you didn’t know before. I discovered my love for fitness and yoga. Work on being the person you want to be and life will just work out naturally for you. It’s not a race and people who treat dating and marriage like a race are not always better off. Wishing you all the happiness!

@kindLion222 it’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed and uncertain after the end of a long relationship, especially when thinking about starting over with the intention of marriage. You’ve already taken the first, and often the hardest, step: healing and acceptance. That’s a huge accomplishment. Be easy on yourself 💕

The right person still awaits you for a lifelong togetherness. First and foremost healing and then planning for future. Though life may not go as planned, however hope and faith is what humans live with. When you feel you are healed and ready to move ahead, list out and be specific in what you look for out there. You can socialise, cultivate hobbies, join groups and most importantly grow yourself. We attract who we are, hence one needs to become the person one seeks to be partner with. Positivity and affirmations go a long way. You are brave and strong enough to pave your way through. Surround yourself with people who cheer for you and support you unconditionally. Wishing you all the best for your dreams. Keep shining 🙂

I am so sorry to hear this. 7 years is a long time to be with someone and it has to be daunting to start over. Please don’t worry about dating yet! You need to process the loss of that relationship, even if you weren’t married or didn’t have kids. Please take some time for yourself to let your mind and body get used to a new routine and a new normal. It sucks to have to start over, but you can do it. I’m 42 and have never been married and have been in a 9 year relationship and a 6 year relationship, so I know exactly how you feel. Please reach out if you need any help.

@kindLion222 oof that’s tough. I think one of the most difficult things is the whole ‘what if’ game.

I wish I had good advice, I don’t lol. But I can say that one of the hardest things is letting go of where we think we should be. Easier said than done, especially when most people around you seem to be further ahead or in loving relationships.

I hope you find the space and grace for yourself that you deserve. While the relationship may be over, you aren’t, and there is so much more out there for you.

And always feel free to reach out if you ever need someone to talk to.
