I’m trying to figure out what makes me happy. I went to do a mediation that was centered on visualization of doing something that makes me happy and that’s when I realized I didn’t know what makes me happy and that made me more sad.

Sorry that you had such a saddening experience with the meditation. Can you ever considered just to start trying out different things you have never done before or things you liked in the past? Sometimes we really need to explore or even redefine what makes us happy.

What does it mean to you to live a happy life?
To me, living a happy life is about doing things you enjoy, spending time with those who love you and living everyday to the fullest. I believe its important to live a happy life and create positive memories so in the future you can look back and reflect on how your life wasn't at all wasted.

I think no, everyone goes though pain and struggles even those with the are happiest. It can be difficult to live happily despite these impacts although mindfulness and engaging in activities which make you laugh, can help boost you positivity!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts about a happy life. I agree, having positive memories is definitively important, particularly when we get older to have something nice to look back at but also to feel that life was not wasted but had meaning.

To have my primary needs met. To be grateful for the things in my life. To enjoy things that are challenging.

No, it's not possible to live life without painful emotions - anger, sadness, disappointment, frustration. There are things to learn from each of these, and we're not always taught how to deal with them or engage with them. It's easier to push them aside, but that can result in things building up and exploding. I think it's knowing that these emotions pass, and there are reasons for them happening. And it's ok to feel.

@amiablePeace77. Painful emotions are unavoidable in life. I had a hard time dealing with them. I went to therapy when I was younger. It helped me cope a lot better. I have learned things that help me cope better by coming here also🌹. Chatting with other people makes my life happier, so coming here helps with that too😊,

Friends, financial independence and safety are can definitively contribute to a happy life. I don't think we can avoid negative thoughts and emotions but we can learn to cope and reframe them so they won't hurt as.

No, but I do think it's a life without a large amount of painful emotions and without very painful emotions. I think a balance of good healthy self-care habits and mental growth enables one to live happily.

Good healthy self-care habits and mental growth are foundations for a happy life in my view.
Living a happy life is one without anger, without hatred, seeking and finding joy in all things. Quiet peaceful times mixed with curiosity and the excitement of what your hoping will come next.
sad things may happen too but we need to find a harmony and balance.

I think there is a lot of compassion for others in your statement: "Knowing that everyone is just like me and wants happiness and wants to be free of suffering" which can make us see life in a much kinder way.
Pain and struggles are just part of life. They are going to be parts of your life, coming and going, throughout. It's normal. We can learn lots from them each time, if we choose to look at it that way.
You can view pains and struggles as normalcy, learn to find gains from them, then move on for the better. If you never had any pains or struggles, what would you have learned to help yourself with life? Or, what would help you appreciate the times with less of this to go through??
It is our own choices how we each view all things. We can choose to learn, gain from things, choose to be grateful for lots, or waste time wishing things were this way or that way, or better than it is now. It is all then time wasted just spent choosing to think on only wanting something better always. Sometimes, it's nice to be content, alright, and appreciate what you have, where you may be at, etc. It always could be worse. If you look back and see you have been spending your life wishing your precious time away, what have you even gained????? We are not guaranteed happiness in this life. We can be happy though. It doesn't take having much but the right frame of mind.

Thanks for sharing these thoughtful points. It makes a vast difference how we look at situations, how we view them. Sometimes, keeping a positive attitude can be very challenging though but regular practise of mindfulness helps to stay stable in my view.
