Happy Monday to everyone in the 50+ community. I hope you all enjoyed your weekend and you are all doing well. laugh

When you exercise, your brain releases chemicals that positively impact your mood and make you feel better.

And, when you exercise regularly, it can enhance feelings of self-efficacy, improve self-esteem and provide a sense of achievement. All of these positive experiences can help alleviate depression.

enlightened What exercise could you commit to do every day this week to feel better? Please remember, it’s not always about doing something for a long time, it’s about just doing something. wink

I consciously chose a active breed of dog when I went looking for a puppy 3 years ago. She forces me outside at least 4 times a day, which is a huge improvement over the before-pupper-times when I'd park myself and read, web surf, binge watch netflix, or game for hours on end. I also chose a 3rd floor walk-up unit because I know myself well enough to recognize I need to build activity into my daily life.

My goal is to improve my fitness starting with body weight exercises. My arthritic knees won't tolerate much abuse so I modify lunges to squats and pay careful attention to form over reps. My supreme goal is to do a pull up or chin up. I put the bar back up over the doorway today. laugh

@Katbtrying552

You took a wise decision to get a dog who is pushing to get out of the house, also I find walking in two is so much nicer laugh.

Pull ups or chin ups are really good exercises for builing muscles, also for the back!

@amiablePeace77, I can do a 5 minute workout, but I don't think I can commit. Right now, that is too much extra pressure in my life.

@purpleTree4652

No need to add more pressure when you have already a lot in your life. In certain times it's just better to do exercise without planning ahead but out of the situation. Sending you feel good hugs.

@sillyrabbit7

I find nature can be a great healer and it's just good to also see something different and not always the same. Nice that you do therapy to help you.

Exercise! Yuck! :)

I might be able to do 5 minutes on the bike, or 5 minutes of stretching. But scrubbing toilets is more exciting than exercise for me, so I'd have to really push myself. Maybe just walking to start.

@thoughtfulmomma

Not everyone likes exercise but I hope with regular walking you will enjoy it. Btw starting with 5 minutes is a great idea, I find as beginner it' s simply overwhelming to do 1 hour exercises.

@amiablePeace77 either walking or doing yoga would be things that I could...but probably will not do everyday. I will definitely do one or the other a number of times this week however. :)

I find this sooooo difficult :( I stand up for 8 hours a day (walking backwards and forwards and up and down stairs), I walk to and from work 5 days a week and I’m wiped out by the time that I get home. I keep trying to do yoga each night but by the time I’ve cooked dinner I really, REALLY, just want to sit down.

@blueKitten5708

It's understandable that after all that walking the only thing you want is to sit down and maybe put the feet up.

Hope you will find an exercise that is fun so that you look forward to doing it. I find walking is a great and easy way to start but also dancing. What kind of exercise do you like?
