I believe there is much more equality between genders than it ever was but we all still have a long way to go so that women are given the same rights as men at home, at work and in society in general. Women also need to trust more in the capabilities of other women who might work in so called men jobs (example technical jobs) and not deny the help of a female technician but call for a male "who might do it better" which is a belief they might have grown up with in their culture.

On the other hand women can take more initiative of acquiring knowledge in fields they lack knowledge or which were usually covered by a man (doing handy work on their own to gain more independence).

I always admired Tina Turner (RIP) for her strength and determination to make something good out of her life despite all the odds.

I came to the conclusion for myself that at the end there is no so called man job or woman job and the statement "Oh this has to be done by a man or a woman" is imprisoning us.

There are jobs which have to be done. There are people who can do the job, not about gender but expertise and willingness.

Thank you for sharing. I so agree 👍.

I do think women overall doing better in work for pay equity and careers but there is more space for both equity and careers.

Either gender can do and be who they dream they can be.

My hero is my momma! She raised me and my 7 brothers while having a career and many businesses. She also volunteered in the community in the municipality and the church. She is who I aspire to be.

She is 84 years old and still as vibrant as ever! Her smile lights up every room she enters.

This fall she made tons of beautiful crafts and sold them and the money she raised she fed the personal care home she in with Chinese food for supper. It is so fun to visit her to help make crafts and enjoy spreading the JOY with others.

I celebrate this today by acknowledging the women in my life . In the groups I volunteer with here a weight loss group and a 50 plus social group locally host a dinner in honor of today.

International Women's Day means to me, a  time to reconnect with the feminine side of myself, as well as listening, learning from, and supporting women of all ages, backgrounds, nationalities.

This year, I recognized IWD with hosting a local nature walk in the woods with 11 other women. :)

@SunShineAlwaysGrateful honestly until yesterday I did not know about womens day. Ok after I was rescued I was in hospital for a while, all the doctors and nurses were amaxing. But this one nurse would come and sit with me for hours, keeping me calm, trying to explain what's happening, and she would tell me stories about life and her family. She said she always wanted a daughter named lola. I had no birth certificate. My owners never gave me a name, I was just a number. So I chose lola to be my name. When I left she have me this little glass cross with the words God loves you in it. It's on my bedside table now. That nurse was very special to me. She's definitely one of my heros ❤❤

@SunShineAlwaysGrateful  1) What does international Women’s Day mean to you personally, and how do you celebrate or recognize it?  I am glad there is a recognition of the contribution of women.

2) Can you share a story of a woman who had inspired or empowered you in your life or career that is your hero? Emily Dickinson was a sensitive shy poet n the 19th century that wrote beautiful poems. They kept me inspired.

3) In your opinion, what are some of the most pressing issues facing women globally today, and how can individuals contribute to addressing them?  I think food insecurity weighs heavily on women with children. Climate change and wars are exasperating this situation dramatically. What individuals can do is contribute in small ways and also change their attitudes to others.

4) How do you think cultural attitudes towards gender equality have evolved in recent years, and what more can be done to foster inclusivity Nd respect for women? Respect starts with the family and what people experience as children stays with them all their lives unless reexamined.

Well, because I'm still controlled sometimes by my automatic thoughts I may not be able to say much or much all that well but I'll give it a go.

1) What does international Women’s Day mean to you personally, and how do you celebrate or recognize it?

To me Women's Day is perhaps a step in the right direction as it can help one recognize or celebrate women more by challenging one's own or others thoughts or beliefs as it's now an actual designated day.

It could also be a shallow play at recognition without the benefit of true empathy or change, leading to overall more issues or conflict instead of less.

I didn't do much to celebrate this year other than take some time to work on myself, reflect and observe others and think critically about it all.

2) Can you share a story of a woman who had inspired or empowered you in your life or career that is your hero?

A women who started her own succesful publishing company comes to mind.

She went through sexual and other types of abuse, poverty and abandonment to help so many.

She kept going even when receiving death threats for her work with people experiencing AIDS and also overcame cancer without chemotherapy or surgery.

Her book 'You Can Heal Your Life' was the main tool I utilized to get off medication even though I was told of be on them forever.

Myself like many others listen to her meditations, visualizations and talks quite regularly and own or read at least one book by her or published by her company.

People still discover and revel in delight at the progress they make and what they're capable of with the work Louise Hay's done in her life.

3) In your opinion, what are some of the most pressing issues facing women globally today, and how can individuals contribute to addressing them?

"Opinions are like buttholes...everyone has one but no one really wants to hear it."

But, 😁 in my studies and observations I can conclude with some confidence that corporate, extrinsic western values and misplaced principles, historical and generational trauma and an unfair and enabling distribution structure of wealth (Without great consequence or regulation.) all may be causing greater violence towards or an environment in which women are more likely to be ignored and mistreated and therefore could be the most pressing issue globally for women today.

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, and if enough people walk this path it can tip the scales and hit the 100th monkey.

4) How do you think cultural attitudes towards gender equality have evolved in recent years, and what more can be done to foster inclusivity and respect for women?

It seems cultural attitudes toward gender equality has evolved in recent years to being more integrated into the general global lexicon.

What more could be done to foster inclusivity and respect for women is for as many people as possible to examine their own lives regularly and consistently integrate what they learn on a priority-rich basis.

Thanks 😊🌿☺️
