@amiablePeace77 This upsets me. Why? I always read. I could read 4-5 books a month . I walked to and from places with book in hand reading woke up reading went to sleep reading but then somethin’ happened-Abuse came in and tho I have healed greatly due to the abuse I have trouble gaining the concentration to rea again. I had so many books I had planned to read after I healed and I lose the patience to sit relax and enjoy a good story.. Reading bought me to another dimension and helped build my Vocab. Reading as crazy as it may sound was like my best friend so to lose it in the name of abuse and someone elses actions is upsetting.

@Amanda84 This is somethin’ I definetly need continue working on. As well as increase my time of listening to music as that was another joy I had that was lost when my ex came in the picture but thanks to my daughter constrantly playing music I can turn on music just not as long as I once did but would like to do again.

Yes, it will take time, and at your own pace, but don't let them take anything more from you, they took enough 💚

@eternalHero77

Ive lost my joy in reading and music too.

I loved music as a pick me up. Would sing along in the car, so much so, I'd panic at the noises the car made if I didn't have music on. Washing up and cleaning were so much fun, with music. Now I can't bear it. Songs are nearly always about love or loss. Either make me cry.

This weekend I tried classical music. Not quite my scene but no lyrics to trigger me and its better than silence.

And reading, yep, just can't get invested in the stories.

Puzzles work abit  better for me. Whether it's a 2 day jigsaw, 30 minute sudoku, or a 2 minute wordle, I can normally find something that fits my attention span of the moment.

I hope your lost pleasures comeback to you soon. You're right it's not fair.

I enjoy reading as well, and I'm blessed to have an amazing book group to share it with. Currently reading Code Girls, It is a really good world War II about code breaking.

Do you read regularly and what kind of books do your find most inspiring?

Yes ever since I was a child. It helped me to learn how to read and understand words and how to write them in proper spelling.

The books I found most inspiring have been books about how to be happy or healthy or live how you want to, get what you need, or heal despite all the bad stuff happening, books that focus on things like that and other things that are good.

One of the recent books I read is called Be Happy, 35 Powerful Methods For Personal Growth And Well Being by Dr Rebecca Ray. Anyone who’s unhappy or having trouble finding happiness, I recommend you to please try reading and following the methods in this book till you find one or more that will hopefully help you be happy ❤️❤️❤️

Do you read regularly and what kind of books do your find most inspiring?

Yes, I try to read regularly. I am trying to turn into an avid reader and my count last year was 12, one book for every month.

The kind of books I find most inspiring are where the character exhibits resilience and uses with to come out of difficult circumstances.

Avid reader when I'm not too tired from nights shifts, currently reading Buddha's Brian by Rick Hanson.

I read fiction, particularly WW2, era from Kindle Unlimited during shifts.

Buddha's Brain by Rick Hanson seems to be a very interesting book. I saw it's also available  as Kindle version.

Originally read it a few years back, revisiting it at a slower pace to gleam as much as I can form it, recently read a book on neuroplasticity which lead to the reread.

CONSTANTLY. <3

Mostly kids’ and YA books, a lot of historical fiction in there <3

@amiablePeach77

I used to read a lot, but not much now. I am planning to start reading regularly. I like inspirational stories.

Reading helps quiet the mind and expand perspective.

A few pages can offer comfort, insight, and a sense of not being alone.

It's good that you have already made plans to resume reading because you have already seen how beneficial it is!
