I have 17, 11 & 6 year olds.
My 11 year old was the nicest boy until the last six months or so. Now not so much. I'll post about it in another thread.

Since you posted the problem about the change in your 11-year-old's behavior on another thread (you didn't say which thread), I don't have much to go on but, in all likelihood, it's due to his peer group, social media, and TV shows that depict teens being snarky to authority figures. With two older brothers, it's possible that he is being exposed to things that he is too young to process properly. He might thrive by being around a group of boys and girls who are 9 years old, so he can experience the weight of responsibility and, therefore, have more respect for it.

Welcome, I am 50 ish and nice to meet you, it is nice to have a place to connect with people that are of the same generation, hope you enjoy 7 cups as much as I have, I have been a member a little over a year and it helps chatting with others who are going through similar situations for me , and the best part is we all encourage each at one time or another!

Hello. I'm 54. Can't believe it. Dealing with proverbial adult children issues. All in 20s and sometimes too busy for us.
@goodWalker4788 I can't imagine how difficult life is for these kids trying to come up in the world now. So much has changed and so rapidly! It's like sand dunes shifting beneath their feet. Jobs are being created and going obsolete at a breathtaking pace. Government is just a quagmire. Social media has been found to be addicting and can be so vicious. Thankfully, they have a loving mother who, even though she grew up in a different time, can be a steady oasis of support. In turn, I hope 7Cups can be a source of support for *you* if your well starts running dry.
Hi everyone! I am in my mid fifties and struggle with depression. Life hasn't turned out the way I imagined it and I feel lonely, fat, old, unattractive and boring. And a view in the mirror confirms it. The way my family treats me is a constant reminder to me that I am only loved as long as they want something from me. I feel tossed aside now that my children have their own life. My husband says he loves me, but can't give me support because he hates talking about feelings. I would love to get out of this hole but don't have any energy left.

I'm glad to see that we have our own little space here on 7Cups. Sometimes it's really comforting to be with folks who share one's cultural experiences and references and... erm... "life changes."
Strangely enough, it wasn't my aneurysm and subsequent emergency open heart surgery that caused a depression flare-up... it was menopause! Ugh, the crying and bitchiness! It seems like suddenly an angry committee has taken up residence in my brain and they are so uncharitable and mean.
Anyway, I hope to keep them under control by having support systems in place, like 7Cups. Very grateful to meet you all. If I haven't scared you off, please feel free to say hello!

I'm 49 does that count? Doesn't seem to be whole lot of activity from my age group on this site. I just feel like I would connect better to people closer to my age than all the yougins in the chat rooms.
im a newbie and still learning how to navigate this site. I'm a 49 yr old mother of 3 grown girls ( all nurses now) and grandmother to super smart little boy. My family all lives in another state as after my divorce 10 yrs ago, I moved away. I was in a bad bad place then and had to find a place to start fresh. I love where I live now and I go see my kids or they come see me several times a year. Thankfully we are very close! I do miss them terribly though!
i suffer from major depression and anxiety disorder. Diagnosed nearly 20 years ago!
Im having major back surgery next week and extremely anxious about it! All these what if's going through my mind and I can't seem to shut them up!
@Puppylove049 Welcome! It's perfectly normal to be nervous about an upcoming surgery. Nothing to beat yourself up for. You will have a team of experts working with you to make sure you are back on your feet and enjoying life more with less long-term pain. Once you're all healed up, you'll probably be asking yourself why you didn't have the surgery sooner! LOL!

Hi there! Welcome to 7cups! 💗 First off, I am really sorry about the issues that you are going through right now and I can understand that you need some quality support from the people of your own age group who can assist you and understand you in a better way.
I would like to highlight something here. There is a room dedicated for people who are 35 and over. It is a regular chat room and it can be accessed by anyone who has the Group Chimera badge. You will have to get 5 chat points which is posting 50 texts in any chatroom. Once you get that badge, the room will open in your list of chatrooms. There you can speak to people of your age group and connect with them.

Hi everyone, just discovered this forum and thought I'd check in, I'm 56. The sheer size of this site is overwhelming, there are hundreds of forums alone. I had a stroke a year ago and life has been hard since then. The physical recovery wasn't so difficult but the emotional recovery has been a bear.
I enjoy being a listener here and using my experience to help others. It's very rewarding.
