Say Hello! We want to meet all 50 year old members!
Saying hello. 55 and a widow. Looks like its a time to start a new life...
@NoraDallas
Sorry about your loss. I hope you have lots of friends that you can do things with and if you are looking for ideas on things or how to meet new friends there is a pleasant activities list on the web. I started square dancing and volunteering at the food bank.
@NoraDallas
So sorry for your loss. I hope you find support, fun and friendship here at 7 cups!
Here's a great after-dinner story. Lost my fancy corporate job at about 51, everything decayed. It took 5 years of companies telling me I wasn't the 'right fit' before I found my personal message and people who talked the same way. I found a unique job that, although doesn't pay as much, is incredibly fulfilling. It's 'part time' which means investing a lot in a little time of doing real work, but once I found my values, discovered why I was drawn to it.
I am in full discovery mode, and am interested in fulfillment to giving until I'm ready to 'retire to the forest' and prepare for the next phase of my journey.

Hi guys. Does 54 count,?
I'm from NZ. Originally widowed...but now separated amicably and moving on...wherever that takes me lol. I came in to just browse and saw this. I'd be grateful to be part of this family haha...I'm free if anyone wants me 😂😂😂. No....I myself need mature interaction. I found solace...to a degree here last time...but with this over 50's maybe there will be better manners and maturity 😉. I LOVE chatting. Doesn't matter who it is. If you like fishing/camping/friends/good times/etc etc...then we could talk for hours haha.
I'm very impartial/unbiast/practical/open minded. I believe...past is past... and we learn from it! Live for today...Plan for tomorrow. But that's it. One day at a time...enjoying it...if we can. haha. At the moment I can't...but Life is too short...so I need to find GOOD friends...when one day...we could meet somewhere in the world...hopefully here in beautiful Aotearoa New Zealand 😎 and have a HOTEL STAY LOL.
A DREAM? YEAH...but its mine. All things are possible I say.
So...will you have me? 😥
@Kiwifella

just standing up to be counted... i'm actually beginning to perk up over this idea of a 'Seniors Forum'.... it's a different world for us (i'll be 66 in a month). i like to be called Gus, cause for so long i had such bad memory damage i couldn't remember a sign name. things are a little better now, i have been working on my memory for 2 yrs, and i can see real improvement~! (i can even do simple arithmatic in my head :D)
anyway, i have been active in cognitive rehab for 25 yrs, since i was poisoned in '89 and sustained severe and long lasting brain damage... i have regained (by simple test and guestimate) about 60 IQ points over the years, by designing my own rehab program and activities, and sticking with it~! in the past 13 yrs i have been able to eliminate several major psychiatric diagnoses (Bipolar, OCD, GAD, among others), and stop smoking. i am now aiming to shed a few pounds (70) and get my home in good repair.
i look forward to getting to know people, who like myself, have seen a lot of changes, and overcome a lot of challenges, and are up to learning new skills to face the challenges to come~ :)

Hi Gus and welcome to the group. Sounds like you have been going through a lot. Not sure if you have heard of EMDR but it is helping me.

Hey Gus!
I am simply amazed by all you've achieved, you can be really proud of yourself: keep on going!
I am glad to hear that your will to overcome the negative situation you faced played a big role..indeed it is just with strong will that we can take big steps forward. Wish you things will go better from now on.
It's great you planned your next goals ![]()
thanks Dana,,, i doubt if there is a therapy or alternative therapy that i haven't heard of, or tried~! :D
i've been 'in recovery' from a significant brain injury for 25 yrs~ still going strong~!
