@stormieandpaws

It seems that you had a rough year. 🫂 I hope things will change for all of you very soon and life becomes easier. This is a link to a post that might be helpful Five Steps to Mental Health and a 'Good-Enough' Holiday. I will also make a post about Coping with Holiday Blues in the Online Therapy Community tonight.

@amiablePeace77

thank you we think maybe why we had a harder year is like up until 4yrs ago our mom was coming staying with us for a week at a time we tried to help her since we was very young emotionally she was abused all her life up until about 6yrs ago when she almost died then dad stopped abusing her she said last time we saw her it been the best years of their marriage  they been married 61yrs so psych  think the honeymoon  stage after moving over now and we feel safe so more coming up to work through

why we stayed in the abuses daily was mom was codependent  on us emotionally think we thought if we stayed we could save her but she not get help for her abuse all her life  so we came to see we  could not save her even with her abusing us we wanted to help her get out but she not

so that part of what coming up

@amiablePeace77

thanks  it hard to reach out we even told  the psych  that when had med review today  we  have trouble with trust issues worst one on   one until we know a person some it why we never used listener here and after the one and only time we called a mental health hotline we not trust them due to how was treated   might sound dumb but we was tuaght  to reach out for help was weakness  one should be able to pull self up by boot strings   we doing better then before with reaching out but still hard for us we use to supporting others  not getting support

therapist  offline always saying how well we deal with our mental health but a lot of the time we feel she not listen between the words like yes we look will ajucted smile  too but well that a front a lot of the time wish we was better at communicating' that sadly were we go can not email them as truth we better at typing it them talking out loud

thank you for hearing us

"feel safe so more coming up to work through"

I'm so pleased you are feeling safe enough to do this! But oh, this seems so unfair! That in being safe, you now have to deal with all the stuff that is coming up. But I'm so proud of you for doing it. Its not easy stuff to process but I do believe it is the way to the life that you deserve and I wish you the best in getting thru to the other side.

@Clio9876

thank you we been healing for long time but yes being safe brought a new layer of healing work to do our therapist  say only the brave do the hard healing work others  stay stuck never move forward in healing due to they unable to do the hard healing work or unwilling to do it she said many just complain about how unfair the trauma  was and how it unfair they have to work on healing we learned  got to face things head on to really heal from them it  not the easy road at all but the one that brings healing and new life

@stormieandpaws

I completely agree that complaining about the unfairness of it is not the way to healing. But I do think it is valid to acknowledge it.

@Clio9876

yes agree but when you see it was unfair then only you can change your life the abusers not care at all they say it never happened or that your remembering wrong we heard both so many times from family members that abused us sadly most abusers go on with their life  like  it never happened many abuse others too like our oldest brother he hurt many family mrmbers but ones outside the family think he great kind etc  but they not know the other side our parents make excuses for him over and over ones that make no since like we know he got sick and had brain injury from high fever he was like  5yr but what not make since is they said he know no better but at same time left us  to be watched by him when mom started working  babysitting other  people kids we did not need the money but if he was so bad off did not know better then why did they leave him over us other two kids also he threatened us over and over too

sad part is he still freeloading off parents he been married had kids and worked so as study show now kids brains heal  so really only thing is he deaf in one  ear

that what really hurts is parents still believe he kind hearted but he abuses them too now that they old he living in their yard in RV and dad giving him money each month to help them but he does very little he working again due to messed up his SSDI

so yes the abuse was unfair but only we can work on healing changing our life for the better

@amiablePeace77 Spending time with family, having a nice long conversation with a trusted friend, visit God in church, prayer, going for a nice quiet stroll admiring the beauty the world has to offer and treat myself to somethin’ nice whether it be material, movie or going out to eat.

@amiablePeace77 I am finding now within the past 2 days when youre emotionally stable you have some family members who cant handle the change in you. Theyre so familiar with your old way of acting and tho they would argue in the past looking for a change they react and try to get you back to that place when you do change. I find now keeping stable at times a person must work so much harder at keeping themselves stable its the only way not just for yourself but to show people and yourself that youre more stronger and cable than anyone could ever imagine but boy I can say in 2 days its taken so much of my energy from me yet I will let the “fire” burn fom within and I will never quit. I shall win the war regardless my family accepts it ot not.

There's a walk-in right around the corner where I live and it's open from 10am til 8pm tomorrow (old year). I've been thinking to go there but take a break for 2 hours or so to take a nap.
