I do not believe that we people have the bonds of connection that used to exist. There used to be an old saying that Blood was thicker than water, Which meant that family stuck together, supported one another, and was available and ready to help if you needed them. Even total strangers in communities bonded with one another. Sort of like it takes a village to raise a child. The whole community looked out for one another, not just Mom and Dad.
Now, we are so divided and lack connection with one another. Computers, cell phones, and electronics have replaced personal interaction. The bond of interpersonal connections is a thing of the past and is getting worse.

Yes, connectivity today is rather superficial, isn't it? Technological connectivity isn't always used in healthy w ways to strengthen familial and community bonds.

While it may seem like we have more now ... that may be from how you would count or quantify,
I think comparing time frames is hard because the differences in communication and such... we may have just as much interconnection as past but now we are able to reach so many more people through internet and find more people with similar mutual connection.

Communities that connect because of an issue or interest on various platforms we are certainly more global. Technology can chat and video from most anywhere!!!
The word is smaller …. However I do think you connect with more people in extended way than ever before.

I think the world is less independent and more interdepent. We eat food that is grown in different parts of the world. Household items are manufactured in many countries. Some countries take the waste products of other countries. University students study all over the world. Scientists collaborate. The US and Russia still maintain a space station even though they are fighting a war indirectly. Everything we know and everything we use is due to the kindness of others. When we think this way deep gratitude arises.

I agree with you, technology has 2 sides. When I was young people had simply more time to spend with each other and to bond, today many people seem to be in a hurry to get things done.
