Hi 7 Cups Leaders,
In the month of November, the community management team is going to update the meetings we host. Our goal here is to provide more helpful topics, reach more people in different time zones and create better opportunities for leadership growth and development.

@Laura
Will all of these be chatroom meetings?
cc @Kate @Jill7Cups
@MonBon
Good point as a lot of forum leaders don't use the chatrooms.
@Laura
Additionally, I have some questions about these items:
Skills - Forum skills - 1x per month for All forum mentors/ supporters forum leaders
Check-in - Forum Team meeting for Teens - 1x per month All forum Supporters/ mentors (currently hosted by Mel)
Who will be leading the skills meeting for the forum team?
Are only teens getting meetings now?
In the past we tried to alternate forum leadership and forum team meetings since it became stressful to have all of the meetings and trainings at the same time. Are we forgoing this now?
@MonBon
cc @Anomalia @MelAllyouneedislove @Soulfullyabutterfly @PhoenixAsh (forum leaders involved with leading meetings)
@MonBon @Laura - I would love to eventually see all of this happening, but realistically until we have more forum leadership, we are not able to take on many more meetings. Also, I do think it's important that we have meetings happening for teens and adults. We are currently onboarding @SoulfullyaButterfly as a new Project Agent on the Team Engagement track to help with team meetings, etc., but as we plan, we need to think about what is realistic and reasonable and what becomes too much.
@Anomalia
Tio clarify -
@jillian will host a check-in meeting for all forum folks (teen & adult) 1x per month. Its a check-in to ask question, problem solve..etc.
We are doing this with other tracks and wanted to make sure forum track had the opportunity as well. No extra load on the volunteer leaders here.
As for the other meetings I labeled as Skills hosted by leaders - this can be a north star and/ or updated to match whatever frequency is currently happening! If there is no bandwidth, we can remove this. I was under the impression that these meetings were happening in some capacity, so wanted to include here.
@Laura this kind of sounds like the forum team meetings we're already doing! The topics discussed there are checking in on how everybody is doing and any other relevant topic at the time. Do you think it makes sense to add a new meeting? From my place it's already been hard to get people to attend these meetings, so I'm not sure adding another one would help. If they situation is CMs leading this, I would actually appreciate if @Jill7Cups helped with the ones we already have! We usually need more leaders so not everything falls on Ano/I (Mon previously too)
@MelAllyouneedislove @Laura
I would agree with this
@MonBon
It was my understanding that mel was leading teen forum meetings. @Melallyouneedislove can you confirm
@Laura hey! The plan is to have alternated forum team and forum leadership meetings every two weeks (for both adults and teens). I try to lead them alongside with @PhoenixAsh our teen PA when we can!
@MelAllyouneedislove
To clarify, you're currently planning on running a minimum of 4 meetings each month alongside training? If you are able to, of course you are more than welcome to, but as someone who was in that role I found it really hard to keep up with all the trainings, meetings, and leadership track calls all within 30 days.
@MonBon Realistically I never get to lead all four of them myself, not only because I'm a single person but also because I can't cover some timezones! The idea is particularly that forum leaders can lead the forum team meetings and take ownership of those spaces. The period we use is actually a six week one so they wouldn't all be in the same 4 week period (at least that was the plan @Anomalia and I had). First come FS Trainings, Forum Leadership Meeting (mentors/teen stars), Ambassadors + FML/TSL meeting, FM/FTS Trainings, Forum Team Meeting, Ambassadors + CM meeting. Who leads each one is actually pretty divided between Ano, I, FML and project agents and some times whoever wants to help (forum team meetings)
@MelAllyouneedislove
Okay cool, we are on the same page I think. Sorry for any unintentionaly confusion <3
@MonBon don't worry! these haven't changed recently so we should definitely be in the same page :) I think it's also useful to have the list out there of how we organize the meetings/trainings! Last time we had leadership meetings it was both adults and teens
@Laura
Yes that's not the part I have concern with. Are only teens getting meetings now?
I'm not a part of the upper forum leadership team anymore, but in the past this was the general schedule (for all age groups):
- Forum Supporter trainings every six weeks
- Forum Team meetings every six weeks
- Forum Moderator trainings every six weeks
- Forum Moderator meetings every six weeks
All of these were staggered from each other so those training and running meetings wouldn't end up with 20 hours of 7 cups obligations in a week.
Your post seems to imply we are removing the staggering and decreasing the time frame, which concerns me that we're going back to 20 hours of 7 cups obligations in a week. Even though it had gotten a lot better, this was a major factor for why I stepped away from forum ambassador so I'm very concerned about that becoming a possibility again. I'm also concerned you only mentioned teen meetings.
Meeting Type - Global Leaders -Mentor Leaders & Ambassadors
Frequency - every week? Or every other week?
Leaders: Jillian, Kate & Laura
Does this mean Global Leaders: Mentor Leaders & Ambassadors? If so, I think weekly is FAR too frequently. But if it means Global Leaders + Mentor Leaders + Ambassadors (aka similar to a mentor meeting), then perhaps more frequent makes sense. I personally know I cannot commit to a weekly meeting and think that less frequent but scheduled with more notice so people can make time is better when the group is a small one of people who are already in tons of meetings, but more frequent and at varied times so all can sometimes attend makes more sense for a large group of mentors
@Anomalia
I think there is some room to experiment here. I do not want to overload anyone. But I want to make sure there is space for ML & Ambassadors to meet! Its meant to be check-in for ML & Ambassadors. I don't expect everyone to attend every gathering. Maybe every other week or once per month makes sense to trial first?
@Laura so I do not see any meeting posted for today. Is there one?
It would be nice to know like at least 2 weeks in advance for those of us that live by our calendar and make appts so we can try to schedule things around 7cups meetings.
@DanaMH is this what you mean? https://www.7cups.com/forum/KitchenTable_133/CommunityInformation_742/November2018LeadershipMeetingSchedule_183381/
Laura just posted it.
Nice schedule! Will Teen Star Leaders be included in the meeting with Mentor Leaders and Ambassadors, since all Mentor Leaders and Ambassadors must have teen access, or is that meeting adult-only?
@Emily619
I think it would be nice to use a teen access room. I think there are still a few stray MLs that aren't ATL, but it would definitely be nice to be able to hold just one meeting to meet with everyone.
@Emily619 @MonBon
I agree! I think it would be really good if we could all get together and have it all in one meeting in order to connect with each other and work together!
@Laura
Hey everyone who is working to make these meetings more productive-YAY
I just am a bit worried(not to much) will forget on the times and days. I know for you guys maybe having it all thrown out there on days/times/topics is faster for you all. But for me I am doing many things on here and in my own life-I will forget.
So please-are we still gonna get the reminders of these meetings?
@RumpleSteeleSkin
I believe the goal is for the new alert system to be used.
@Laura
sounds cool!
