Special Event: Hope made simple (Day 1)
Hey everyone ❤️
What is hope? An abstract concept like hope can be vague, which leads to a lot of questions and not many answers. Right?
Turns out, hope is a lot more straightforward than that. Science shows that hope is a skill that can be learned and practiced, just like picking up a new hobby or playing a new sport. The more you practice, the better you get at it.
Higher hope improves your emotional wellbeing, the way you approach personal relationships, and gives you motivation. How hopeful you are doesn’t depend on how much money you have, what your family is like, or where you live. You can build hope yourself, and let it help you thrive in life. Doesn’t that sound like something worth trying?
If there was a part of you that whispered yes, then congrats! You just practiced hope. In fact, this kind of hope in learning something new is called mastery hope. There are four types of hope, each like a different muscle serving a different purpose:
1. Attachment hope is used to build and keep trusting relationships, have a sense of connection to others, and have strong survival skills
2. Mastery hope is used to become strong and successful, supported in your efforts, and inspired by good role models
3. Survival hope is used to stay calm and find ways out of trouble or difficult situations. It allows you to manage your fears
4. Spiritual hope is used to feel close to nature and all human beings and to draw extra strength and protection
Today, let’s try focusing on just one type of hope. Pick one and think about some things you’re hopeful for. It doesn’t matter if it’s unrealistic or silly, there’s no such thing as bad hope. You are free to hope for anything ❤️
Questions:
1. Which type of hope do you want to practice today?
2. What are some things that you’re hoping for in the next week?

Hey @hopebeyondpain , great post ,thanks so much ! 😊
I'll be practicing some spiritual hope today as well as in this week too , a hope to feel more connected to nature and open environment for some fresh air perhaps! ❤
@Sunisshiningandsoareyou
How very nice Sun! What a nice pick of the choices available. I almost picked this one automatically. I like the ideas that you have presented for yourself for this week for this type of hope. I hope you get to do most or all of them! If so, I bet it will help make you very happy.
Hi @hopebeyondpain
Thanks so much for the wonderful topic! You sure put a lot into this!
1. Attachment hope is used to build and keep trusting relationships, have a sense of connection to others, and have strong survival skills
I picked this one because it is a hard one for me, especially with the attachment and relationship part. This week, I want to and hope to work on, for this, keeping more in contact with some of my friends that are not doing well and so much can use all the support I am able to give to them. In doing this, I will also be connecting with others, and this is a lot of connecting for me for how things have been lately with my life. I have a very good basic sense of survival skills, built from surving so many decades of abuse and other abuse that was going on also during those times. I have always learned to fight to save myself and fight for survival. Yes, sometimes I get extrememly depressed dealing with my CPTSD and DID, but, I have been dealing with this for many decades and I have a strong faith in God and this saves my life so many times and I am so happy to have this faith and religious beliefs. I am sorry for writing so much today. Hugs
@Amelia2324
Hey Amelia ❤️ Aw thank you! That means so much to me, I'm just really glad the post is helpful ❤️
I want you to know that I believe in you ❤️ No matter what happened in our past, we have the power to create our future. We may be influenced and shaped by the what happened, but they do not define us - we do. I see the way you treat others with kindness and compassion, and I'm proud of you for choosing to do that ❤️
You enver need to worry about the word count - write as much as you like ❤️ May God bless you and keep you always ❤️ *hugs* and take care
Hi there @hopebeyondpain
I so much appreciate your kindness, compassion, and thoughtfulness in your reply to me. I wish I could reach you now, whereever you may be, and give you some of that and some wonderful hugs to show you love.
I hope your day is going alright for you, or, as best as it can.
Timely. post for me.
1. Survival hope- dealing with an horse issue that is triggering past trauma - using all my resources to troubleshoot
2. Simple hope for this week- that the lameness is an acute problem that will resolve and improve. To put my fear that I may lose another horse is high drama on my part. Doesn't always have to mean a tragic end.
HI @barncat
Sweet, kind hugs for you and your horse. ![]()
@barncat
Hey there ❤️ It's really good to hear from you again ❤️
This horse is clearly very close to your heart ❤️ I'm really proud of you to see that you're trying your best to work through your trauma and process what's happening, and that you're choosing to hold onto hope instead of letting your mind jump to the worst case scenario. That takes a lot of courage and willpower ❤️
I hope it gets better soon ❤️ Take care
@barncat *hugs for you and carrots for the boys*
1. Which type of hope do you want to practice today? Survival hope
2. What are some things that you’re hoping for in the next week? I'm not. I am dreading doctor appointments. I hate where I am living and I have no motivation.
To be honest, last week killed all of the hope I had.
@Rebekahwriter13
Hey Rebekah ❤️ It's so good to hear from you again ❤️

Take care ❤️
@hopebeyondpain my problem I just a little bit of happiness and it's like the saddness smothers it.
@hopebeyondpain Hi. This was very interesting and cool to read about different kinds of hope. Thankyou.
I'd have to focus on the attachment hope. I want to build and keep friendships. I also want to feel more secure in my relationship with my partner. I feel secure with who they are, but not always with who I am. Sometimes I'm not sure what they see in me. I do like myself more now after being with them, and I believe what they say. I am hopeful that over time I'll feel more and more at ease.
I know you said to just focus on one, but I wanted to mention that my survival hope has drastically improved over what it once was. I can calm myself down better than I used to. I hope this helps any one else know that it is possible!
Thankyou.
@shellofashell
Hey there ❤️ Aw, thank you, I really appreciate that. I'm just really glad that you enjoyed the post ❤️❤️
I love your spirit, you're doing really well already ❤️ Keep going! I'm really proud of you for working hard for yourself and recognising the amazing milestones you've reached ❤️ I know it's not always easy, so good job for pushing through ❤️
Take care, and I hope you'll have a wonderful weekend ❤️

1. Which type of hope do you want to practice today?
I will practice survival hope and mastery hope.
2. What are some things that you’re hoping for in the next week?
We have a pest issue right now. I hope it resolves by next week.
Have a nice day and weekend :-)
I would like to practice survival hope as I think this is what I struggle with. I hope I can make journeys to see people for my work who I keep putting off as it makes me anxious. I hope I can face difficult situations without avoiding them and letting friends down.
@hopebeyondpain
Very cool. Maybe the attachment hope. I'm hoping to be more trusting of others. <3
