GLDD Name Change: Vote for your choice
Hi everyone! I hope you are doing well. 7 Cups Academy consistently tries to keep up with the needs of our trainees. It is very important to us that we are able to reach people who can benefit from our programs, support them throughout their program and help them realize their learning goals.
We have noticed that there is some confusion regarding the Group Leadership and Dynamics Development Program. So we are considering renaming the program to something that is more fitting. The aim of our group program is to educate people so that they can have a supportive presence in rooms. This happens through learning about components of building a group, studying therapeutic factors by Dr. Irvin D. Yalom, and spending time in group rooms amongst other items. Trainees go through the following steps:
Complete coursework (forum discussions surrounding group topics)
Minimum 3 hours of participation in group rooms
Hosting 1 group session per week.
Now that you have an understanding of what the program is, we are hoping you can help us rename it or keep the current name if you think we should just stick with what we currently have.
Our goal with the new name consideration:
Potential trainees get a clear understanding of what the program is about.
The program can be differentiated from our Leadership Development Program which is more focused on leadership and not on groups specifically.
A simpler name that does not require an explanation. Like the Quality Listening Program.
We are considering these names:
Group Support Program
Group Support and Interventions Program
Group Behavioral Health Program
Keep the current name - Group Leadership and Dynamics Development Program

I voted for Group Support Program.
The 2nd and 3rd name makes this sound like a problem position that might make it undesirable.
They draw attention to the problems that sometimes occur in groups. just my thoughts
I agree with hope, there's enough of a stigma on mental health that if people think it's for specific problems then they might not think the course is not for them and miss out on the opportunity for help.
The current name is good too as it includes all about the program 😮

I'm glad you guys are considering this. Personally I felt that the course name was not accurate once I started the program. One of the others will be better. I voted for Group Support Program, which is simple and accurate.

whichever name is chosen, i am very happy for the trainees taking part in the program! they are helping everyone in this 7 Cups community by doing so!
