This is the beginning of a new year and for many of you this will also mark the beginning of a new episode of your life - Adulthood - when you reach 18!
At 7 Cups when you reach 18 you will be switched to the adult 18+ side.
This happens at midnight 12:00 GMT.*
Why 12:00 GMT? I have no idea, but it has to be some time so why not lol?
~ What is the Teen Transition Mentor Team ~
We have a whole team on hand to offer you support. The Teen Transition Mentor Team (TTM) has the knowledge and information needed to support you through all changes.
- We can answer all your questions
- We can buddy you when you visit the 18+ chatrooms.
- We can show you how to keep in contact with your teen friends
- We can offer support and share knowledge of the differences between teen-side and 18+ side

Just a short form to fill in. and then a teen transition mentor, or one of the team, will reach out to you and answer all your questions, and support you through the process. It’s fun and friendly, and together we can make it better!

~ What is an ATL ~
You will see these three letters A T L in lots of places, including profiles, and in the teen rooms. The listeners that hold this badge are all 18+ and they have been trained to listen to teens and adults. They have had a background check and an interview with an admin.

Join the TTM Team
When you are an ATL you will then become eligible to join the TTM Team and share your wisdom and knowledge of the aging-up process and help support other teens.

*Rarely, there will be a few of you, members that joined us at a young age, who will be switched to the adult side at the end of their birthday month. This is because we never used to ask members their birth day, only their birth month and year. Now we ask for a full birthdate. So now we can move people exactly on their birthday.

@corneli4street Hi there, thanks for joining in and asking a question. Let me explain.
There are three bands of listeners:-
1) Teen listeners, who are 15 - 17 years old - they can only listen to our teen members who are 13 - 17 years old.
2) Adult listeners, who are 18+ and they can only listen to members who are 18+
3) ATL Listeners, who are adults 18+ (these listeners receive extra training, have background checks and are interviewed by an admin) who can listen to all members from 13 years old
So . . . to answer your question, it is mostly Yes! If, your listeners are teen listeners, but No, if your listener is an ATL.
You can search for ATL Listeners in the browse listeners pages here https://www.7cups.com/BrowseListeners/
You will be able to find if your listener is an ATL by looking at their profile.

Hi, I am replying here as all the current 2026 information is in this thread.
1. What all changes when you go over to the adult side? I know the chats do, but does anything else?
The adult side is very similar to the teen-side but it is bigger and usually busier. There are more topic rooms and more planned hosted discussions too.
You will see the option to have paid therapy which becomes available for 18+
You will lose access to the Teen Only Zone (TOZ)
All of your friends and chats if they are with teens will disappear. For this reason we suggest you let people know in advance. You can post a thread here in the Aging-up Support community to keep in touch.
Listeners will have the option to apply for ATL status.
2. And do you get transferred over right on your birthday, or does it take a couple of days?

3. Do adults think the newly transitioned teens are immature? Because I'm not very mature and I don't want to annoy anyone 🥹
No, not at all, remember many on the older-side are teens too and have just transitioned over like you. Anyone who was a teen at 7 Cups and who aged-up will be awarded the Evolution badge so you can see if that is the case in their profile.
Adults are friendly too, we have fun, we have fears and we can be immature too, and you won't be annoying anyone.
You can ask for your TTM to guide and buddy you if you like so you will have a friendly face.

A question for those on the 18+ side, are the chats more active?
@natanaelthe1 Hi there, do you mean chats as in 1-1 Listener to member? There are many more adult 18+ than there are teens so, yes, and you can always choose your own listener, and approach a few to see who fits https://www.7cups.com/BrowseListeners/
There are more group chats and they are often much busier, maybe because of the worldwide zones and lack of school/college so many adults are active. There are more rooms and more topic discussions too!
