Grocery Store

It’s just the grocery store. I am home now but I feel so bad.

The staff asked if I had 20 items since I was at the self check out. The area was deserted, so why did it matter? I thought I did so I replied yes. Soon my brother pointed out that we already had 20 items and still had a few more items in the cart. Uh-oh. The stuff we had were so tiny it didn’t look like we were gonna exceed 20. I hurried up scanning, paid, and speed out of there.

Am home but my emotion is telling me I shouldn’t have gone shopping. I feel like I just committed a crime for not knowing how much I have in my cart. I just feel bad.

Awe. I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling bad. <3 I hear you. When you struggle with anxiety these small mistakes can weigh heavy on your mind. Try to be kind to yourself and practice self-compassion. Remember that it's okay to make mistakes, and that you don't need to be perfect all the time.💜

Hi, 101,

Yeah, that's anxiety rearing it's ugly head. I wouldn't worry about exceeding 20 items since the store wasn't busy. Honestly, I didn't know there was an item limit in the self-check out line. Did the store get suddenly busy while you were in the self-checkout? I bet it didn't. So, don't worry about it.

You're conscientious enough to count your items and be concerned about following the item limit. You're a good person.

We're all forgiven for making little mistakes. We're human.

Take care, and let yourself go for this one. No one is keeping track of our mistakes but ourselves.

Hey M!

I am sorry to hear about your tough time at the grocery store!

Dealing with anxiety is never easy, but please don't let what happened discourage you! You said it was empty so this little mishap did not hurt anyone. It was an honest mistake that happens to the best of us believe me especially since the items were not big and therefore did not look like many:) If you need a listening ear please feel free to message me and I will get back to you as soon as I see your message :)

I understand, please don't feel bad. I get the same way when I'm anxious but I'm sure they didn't even mind, I do the exact same thing. <3
