Weekly Prompt #32: How are you feeling right now?

User Profile: ASilentObserver
ASilentObserver March 11th, 2024

Hi everyone, I hope you are all being easy on yourself this week.

A couple of weeks ago we discussed: What are your fears when it comes to social situations? Thank you to all who participated and shared your thoughts with us. I appreciate you all. I hope all who may read it find it relatable too. If anyone hasn't shared yet, please share them here and I look forward to reading and discussing them with you.

This week's prompt: On a scale from 1 to 10, with 1 being the worst and 10 being the best, how would you rate the way you’re feeling right now? Can you explain why you feel this way right now?

I want us to simply reflect on our feelings this week and share every day how are we feeling. what are the reasons behind those feelings and support each other. Take this as an opportunity to share and discuss anything and everything you feel comfortable to share. So let's get started and take our small steps to share and support.

@ASilentObserver Hi there,

I just wanted to let you know that currently, I feel pretty good. I passed one of my classes.. and when I mean passed it was barely passing... so I mean I am happy about that, which causes a lot more stability for me in the future. I am working towards finalizing my grades in my program and succeeding, which is sometimes hard to handle, but I think that it will work out.

I have applied for three jobs, which I know that I am not supposed to look too much, but I am just applying and seeing where the opportunities may lead to.

I am indecisive about whether or not I should pursue another master's degree before I continue on and it is causing me to have some inner turmoil. I only want to do it if the timing lines up correctly. So we will have to see.

Anxiety wise... I feel cool as a cucumber.. and I mean I am finally on spring break which is nice, but i just needed some time to breath. Its been relaxing.

Thanks for the check-in,

E

That's awesome that you passed your class! As a college student myself, I understand how difficult school can be while dealing with mental health challenges. Take all the time you need to decide on getting your masters. Weigh your options, but trust your gut.

Remember to take care of yourself and have fun during your spring break!

@reginalistener18 Yes i definitely did get the time to take care of myself over break and get a few things done. It was nice and relaxing. I am having a bit of anxiety with coming back to school tomorrow, but I think that it should be okay. I am very happy that I passed the class.

Thanks for responding!

2. Self-hate because of internalized ableism and lack of support. I'm too anxious to complete the means tests and basic maintenance needed to ensure a quality of life.

Hi, ASO,

On a scale from 1 to 10, with 1 being the worst and 10 being the best, how would you rate the way you’re feeling right now? Can you explain why you feel this way right now? I'm a 4 or a 5.  I just started taking another drug.  I basically take drugs all day.  This new drug has all sorts of lovely possible side effects like strokes and death and gaining weight.  They're all equally bad to me.  That's why I'm not so happy.

@purpleTree4652 I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing these difficult feelings, Purple :(  I understand how you are struggling with your medication regimen and the potential side effects. How are you coping with the stress of it all?

@ASilentObserver

Hi, ASO, I talk to myself.  And I tell myself that the potential benefits of taking the new drug outweigh the potential side effects, So try and look at the positive.  I also rest a lot.

@ASilentObserver

Hi again, ASO,

Thank you for taking such an interest and for asking questions.  Today I think it is a job.  At least that is what I woke up thinking about.  I applied ffor another job last night.  I also got turned down for a reference last night, from my new boss at school.

Right now I'm working in their largest library.  Because of the size of the library, they have a level of supervisor that the other libraries don't have.  She is my new boss.  I like her very much.  But I get the impression she doesn't like any extra work.  When I asked her if she would be a reference for me, she wiggled the best she could with reasons for why she couldn't do it.  I finally said ok, and left it at that.  So, I am down to two references.

@purpleTree4652 sounds like frustrating experience with your new supervisor at your current job. It can be difficult when we feel like others don't want to help us, especially when we are trying to move forward in our careers.

On a scale between 1-10 I feel like an 8. This weekend, I started volunteering at an animal shelter. I was proud of myself because I have severe social anxiety, so being around new people is hard for me. But I was able to enjoy my experience and am excited to volunteer again. I am very proud of myself for pushing myself out of my comfort zone.

Another reason I have been in a good because is because I've recently joined 7cups. Forums like this have been great, encouraging me to talk about myself (my thoughts and feelings) in a safe environment. I appreciate how supportive everyone is.

@reginalistener18 That sounds amazing. Congratulations on starting to volunteer at the animal shelter. It must have taken a lot of courage to push through your social anxiety to do that. How did you manage to do it?

I'm also feeling upbeat because I recently joined 7cups, and it's been a fantastic experience so far. The forums have provided me with a platform to reflect on various aspects of life, share my own experiences, and extend support to others who might be going through similar challenges. It's fulfilling to know that I can offer a listening ear and be a source of support for those who need it. @ASilentObserver

hey obs, i do hope that you’re doing well today. before i start, just want to say thank you always for these engaging posts.

today, i’m in a neutral mood. since lately it’s starting to feel that almost everyday i’m like that.. most times it feels to me like i’m unaware of my feelings and i’m just ‘here’. it could have a lot to do with me having MDD.

whenever i’m in a neutral mood, my environment can either throw me in a better mood or the opposite. right now, i feel as if i’m heading to the more positive side, as i’m sitting out on my balcony and the cool morning air is brushing on my skin.

so i’d say, i’m in a good neutral mood. don’t think that’s a thing though, lol

Also I am glad you are able to identify your feelings and are experiencing a good neutral mood at the moment. It makes sense that your environment can impact your emotions.
