i feel tired. i want to sleep.
@isakxx Nothing wrong with rest if your body and mind are asking for it. A little self care can go a long way
@isakxx did you sleep my dear... actually did you really get some rest ? sleeping and rest are totally different ! you have to rest your mind completely my dad was telling me that when you rest lay your body out completely straight so that you can relax all your muscles and alignment with your body try it.
@honestBranch5884 thank you 💓 *sending virtual hug*
Not good
@honestBranch5884 Anything your Cups community can do for you?
@ladylazarus1971
I needed support on Thursday and 7 cups did that.. I hung out in a couple of community room..one specifically for students and i shared. It helped. I came home after a 12+ hour work day and was able to write a paper for 4 hours...not finished but yeah yeah I feel so good i didnt give up. Plus my parents are visiting me for the past week or two since I've been in my depressive state and my dad stayed up with me to help me finish my paper it was absolutely awesome and I felt so encouraged. My dad actually sat right next to me as I typed over 13 pages of information for my paper I still got a couple more pages to write but I can do that hopefully while I'm at work tomorrow since I hopefully will have a light day. Thankful that you just showed compassion and love for me that it encourages me not to give up I'm scared for when my parents leave me but I know that I have an outlet now here in this community and I think you so very much for it!!
This is my first time writing on an online community forum for bipolar. Wahoo!
I have had some recent family stuff go on (my side of the fam & in-laws), and it has shaken me more than I have been shaken in my life! I missed about 3 doses on random days amidst the turmoil, had a lot of travel, and altogether my routine was turned upside down.
I have the pleasure of working from home currently, but these past two weeks I have fallen so behind with all that has happened. As of TODAY I can barely move & get up to catch up with work & house duties. Anyone else have similar issues?
@Gentlesquash543 Thank you for being brave and introducing yourself to the community! So great to meet you.
The whole thing about getting out of routine strikes home with me. My mental health professionals and peers have always been adamant about sticking pretty tightly to routines, as some slight changes can really mess with your equilibrium. And I have begun to see that now that I am more stable than I have ever been. So, I understand what you mean about unexpected life events and changes throwing you out of whack, whether it's with meds or other aspects of dealing with BD.
Hold on for the ride, honey, and try not to let the Bipolar bronco toss you off!
@Gentlesquash543
I'm glad that you shared your journey with us I too need to develop a succinct routine that will help me stay organized. help me with my anxiety level , help me with my depression !we all need to have those types of routines. I wonder do you Journal? that's something that I need to do if you're interested and maybe somebody else in here might be too that we can Journal together ?and meet up online to encourage each other to journal what do you think about that?
@honestBranch5884 what does journaling "together" mean? I am not much of a journaler! Maybe one day I will be
@Gentlesquash543
What would you want journaling mean to you ? I know when I get home today I have some exciting things that I want to share and I think I'm going to write sbout them because it's going to make me feel good. I need that. I don't know how long I'm going to write it might be a sentence or two but I definitely want to record how I feel. What about you?
I feel excited that it's Friday and that when I come home tonight... I'll probably write another five pages for my paper but I'll be encouraged by remembering the time that I didn't feel so good and by the evening I was feeling much better and not as depressed...that was Thursday...
on the other hand I'm a little bit anxiety level heightened because my psychiatrist called and did say that my vitamin D levels are low but I am ready to start on my lithium medication is that okay?
This morning I was scraping along the bottom. Everything hurt. I'm not sure it was a downswing because it wasn't out of nowhere, there were factors playing into why I felt like crap (lack of sleep, difficult friend situation, rough start to the work day) but I guess the mental tapes I've got that give me a beatdown over every little thing were a major factor. I got a little shuteye over lunch break though, and came up a little bit. Got some food after work and gave myself permission to veg out and not try to force creative stuff to happen today, so feeling a lot better now.
@RoseD greetings I am sorry to hear that you had a lack of energy yesterday it sounds like it was a multitude of things that could have been the cause. Did you have an opportunity to get some real REM rest on Monday night?
I find when I have a lot of things going on it's hard to peacefully relax. Have you identified any tools or practices that you can use in order to completely relax whether it's music ,meditation ,journaling ,writing, taking a walk ,deep breaths have you identified what works for you to actually fully relax?
@honestBranch5884 I got some, but insomnia is kind of a problem. I'm trying a new supplement to see if it helps. I usually can't reach "relaxed" and have resigned myself to letting my brain run itself into exhaustion before I get to sleep. I can't make a lot of changes right now because as I'm in the middle of a move, it's hard to establish new ongoing habits when everything external is in flux. But I have hope that once this move is over, I can try and focus on getting more sleep. Thanks for saying hi. =)
@RoseD I understand. A change in your immediate environment means that you have the potential to loose your schedule and normal routine. Well I hope you are able to identify with a song, smell, incense, yoga pose or something of the like to bring that calmness to your environment. For me , I went out to buy some natural essence oils to use when I study. That helps with my clarity (at least it does mentally because that I what I am telling myself- smile). When my room is a mess and I need to focus and not clean up but do my work - I like to smell that scent and for some reason I know it is time to focus my efforts on my work. I share this only because maybe there is a certain trigger that you can find that can work for you to do what you need. I am excited that you have an upcoming positive change in your life? Is that how you view it? I know sometimes change is frightening- is this a welcomed move that you will increase your stability and make you happy?
@honestBranch5884 Oh it is a very welcome change, or will be once it is complete. Also scary, but I can also recognize objectively (in spite of the mental scrambles of anxiety) that this is a good and healing thing for me. That recognition helps me keep moving in spite of the anxieties. And that's a good idea, trying to get the brain to accept a trigger. My work just started selling essential oils recently and I already picked up a few. I may try what you've mentioned (though, I think I still need to wait until the move has finished, about a month and a half from now. It will have a much better chance of sticking if my external circumstances aren't in such flux.) Thank you!
@RoseD I am proud of you RoseD. How are you feeling today?
@honestBranch5884 A lot better. I get to spend a few days with someone I love and that always helps. How are you?
@RoseD I was able to renew a shattered relationship yesterday. So I feel good but scared.
@honestBranch5884 It's so weird, I responded to this, but coming back I see it didn't post. I'm sorry, I didn't abandon our conversation. I was saying in my response that didn't post that I wish you the best. I've also had to do this in my life, though I'm sure our circumstances are different. I hope it goes well for you and is a healing experience.
Today specifically hasn't been terrible, but I've been pretty edgy and irritable for the past couple of months. I try to calm myself, but once I get mad, it builds and builds. I don't always stay mad or get even more mad. Sometimes I get super mad over nothing really fast then, in seconds, I'm fine. Don't let me forget that my sleeping meds haven't been working the past few nights for my insomnia. I'm just ready to come down already...ugh
I feel totally lost, empty, and alone. So tired of feeling depressed. Seems hopeless:(
@TJ1006 We're here for you! A lot of us have been through or are going through depressive symptoms ourselves. Reach out, and we'll reach back. <3
@Laura @asthebeesays
im okay i guess i think im getting sick... :'( kinda been depressed lately..
I am feeling alone, sad, depressed and like giving up. I am exhausted but can
I feel pretty decent today. Have already worked 2 early morning jobs, and I feel a bout of self care coming on. Going to try to hop on the exercise bike today, and take a really long shower. Then, back out for 2 more jobs, and I can come home to relax. Not a bad day, overall, so long as I don't get derailed along the way.
