7 Cups currently has separate dedicated teams that focus on both Content and Marketing. This discussion outlines both teams and provides an overview of their current focus.

(A) Content Volunteer Team

The Content Volunteer Team was relaunched and redesigned in 2020 and is led by @SoulfullyAButterfly - more information including an application can be found here

Focus:

The team works to improve site content in the following areas:

(i) Questions and Answers (Q&A Pages): Quality answers are researched and written in light of search engine optimization (SEO) and other best practices to ensure that the community gets verified, valuable information in response to common mental health questions and concerns. These answers are considered “short tasks” as they involve quicker content production.

(ii) Expert Mental Health News and Advice Section: Existing, published articles are reviewed to ensure up-to-date information, quality length, expert verified facts and other important topic categories by editors.

In addition, fresh content is produced for:

(iii) Expert Mental Health News and Advice Section: Alongside fresh content provided by experts, the team works to research and produce relevant fresh content articles that help boost information and awareness related to the categories that 7 Cups offers expertise in. Writers are welcome to collaborate with experts to publish co-authored articles or produce content individually to be published under the 7 Cups Community Account.

(iv) All other Content Needs: The team is ready to tackle and undertake content tasks that may come up as other needs. These content assignments can relate to listener guides, upcoming growth path playlists, improvement and support of online therapy-related information as well as many other possibilities!

(B) Team Lightship

As a revamp to the Social Soldiers Team at 7 Cups, Project Lightship was announced in late 2020 as the current volunteer-led marketing team for 7 Cups on Twitter. It is currently being led by @Rebecca947 and @Isentropic

Focus:

The team intends to eliminate mental health stigma by identifying those who need support as presented by social media (Twitter) based messages. The team not only works on bringing awareness by using and promoting mental health-based content but actively outreaches to potential users in need of a safe haven to invite them to use 7 Cups.

The team currently has one track with a focus on:

(i) Outreaching to 20 people with compassionate messages and support per month

(ii) Generating content and posting 5 posts.

As the team is currently testing only one track, we can expect future opportunities with the growth of Team Lightship! Further information, including an application, can be found here

Other Social Media Platforms for Content:

In the meantime, 7 Cups has official accounts on social media platforms that are run by community admins. Students of this current course as well as the Content Team will prospectively add to these content and content marketing efforts!

Find and follow the 7 Cups Official Accounts on Social Media:

Authoring content of mental health related areas would be the most interesting to me. Psychology is one of ultimate favorite subjects. Then also being able to go off years of personal experience. I would really be able to relate to the content I'm writing which would give a boost to the quality of the content.

How can we maximize impact? This is the question that is closest to my heart. There are so many people struggling with mental health issues and I can’t stop thinking about how we can help them most efficiently. There are not enough mental health professionals, but the power of self-help is great. That’s why I’m interested in creating content.

I want to understand what kind of self-help content actually works. For me personally, psychology and neuroscience podcasts combined with cultivating self-awareness have had the greatest impact. Science explains the mechanisms behind my problems and makes it possible to address them. And self-awareness practices like meditation, mindfulness, journaling and others help to recognize destructive patterns and learn a functional mindset. At the same time, I've never particularly liked pure self-help informational articles, and I wonder if they work well for others. If you have a marketing analytics or audience research team, I'd love to be on it.

I’m interested in helping individuals through Team Lightship too. Volunteering as an active listener at 7Cups has recently become one of my biggest passions. I’m looking forward to taking this course and learning how else I can contribute.

@VickaIstanbul I tell people...and myself...that there is a lot we can do for ourselves that our professionals can't. Plus your professionals are only with you when you have an appointment. Besides the point of therapy is to teach you how to help yourself. So I love your response. It's an area I stress. I'd be interested in reading and referring anybody to your content on this misappreciated topic.

@ThoughtLight finding content developing has been a real blessing. After becoming a verified listener I've been on the hunt for other roles in my niche. Mental health is a passion and I've been a writer for years.

@ThoughtLight thank you, that’s motivating! How is your hunt going? What kind of positions are you looking for? I am also seeking more ways to aid people in bettering their mental state.

@VickaIstanbul well I'm looking for in person volunteering through NAMI. The National Alliance of Mental Illness. I actually start university in the fall and I'm sure there will be a lot of on campus opportunities. I'm an English major and a psychology minor. All the top writing centers and programs are in the English department. So basically, I need to market myself to professors and faculty who can aid me the most.

@SoulfullyAButterfly I'm mostly interested in editing articles, updating them and making sure the sources provided are reliable. There are so many articles that get certain mental health topics wrong and often mislead their audience so it would be nice to ensure this mistake isn't repeated :)

I really want to be involved in providing up to date information of mental health news and psychotherapy related material. I want my pieces to include how to relate it to your everyday life and things you can do. There are so many things that we can do for ourselves that mental health professionals can't do for us. And the point of therapy is to teach you how to help yourself.

I think I am interested by the Q and A side of things. I have read so many and found some good help there, and I am a keen researcher, I love digging and checking facts from different sources, checking and rechecking and then to fall down rabbit holes and ending up learning something completely different lol.
But who knows things may change as I learn more.

@SoulfullyAButterfly

The Content Volunteer Team aligns perfectly with my interests! As a medical student with a passion for psychiatry and mental health, I am confident that I can contribute effectively to all four areas the team focuses on.

Additionally, I am eager to share my knowledge and experiences with others, especially considering my pre-med student days when I was suffering and had numerous questions but with poor access to quality resources. During that time, receiving answers from someone in the field of psychiatry would have meant the world to me.I also have a strong inclination to correct misinformation and prevent the spread of ideas that may be harmful or unproductive. I want to ensure that others don't face the same challenges I did and can benefit from the knowledge and support I can provide.

I'd like to be a writer and share fresh contents. Even though I don't have previous experience, I try my level best to perform well in the writings. This will be a really good opportunity for me to explore new things and enhance my knowledge. ✨

Hi @SoulfullyAButterfly, I'm interested in collabing with an expert to research and write fresh content, or helping in the Q&A section, since I have a lot of mental health and illness lived experience.
