I glance at a small caterpillar on the sidewalk
It ran over the art I made with chalk
I follow the little insect until it reaches its destination
The caterpillar arrives to a tree
It wraps itself in a cocoon to no longer be free
The rain goes pitter patter as time passes by
The caterpillar turns into a blue insect that can fly
I'm glad I came back to this tree
Because I got to see the butterfly that is finally free

roses are yellow
violets are green
this poem is weird
and so am I
I want to be tagged for prompts, I love writing poems as some people here may already know. Poetry is an emotional outlet for me, sometimes my poems seem really gloomy but there is always some symbolism of hope or light in them. It's all because I write what I am feeling at the time. I like being free like this to just write what I want and not what I need to to move on. So I am going to take the 'little thing in life' and go along the lines of love maybe a wedding theme.
She's not striking any poses;
As she walks down the bed of roses.
He is standing there;
Then sees her dressed so fair.
With a ring on her finger;
And a golden band on his.
It is proof of what will linger;
Surely, you know what it is.

When nectars sufficient for the bees, why incomplete with a good night sleep
When water satisfy the trees, why a good laugh seems too minor to keep
The stormy rain may wreck and shatter, resembles the soul that thirst and bleed
But the rain can be pleasing and tender, a mirror to a spirit free from greed
The fresh green of the grass, the giggles in the shoves
the dance under the stars, and the embraces of loves
It's the little thing in life, that makes a man larger than life
Bonus: If day is nice to write a piece, would love to read yours too, Clarisse! 😀
@ouiCherie
Omigoshhh how beautiful, Cherie, you included so many *wholesome* little things in life. 💜
@ouiCherie such a pretty poem Cherie! loved the imagery and colour scheme of the text!
I don't necessarily write poems but here is a short prose piece for you <3
I live in a city far away from home- bustling, shiny, huge. My mum calls me every morning, to check up on me and to make sure that I've woken up, that I'm starting my day with some love, that university and life, even though it's hard, aren't making me lose sight of my true purpose.
My roommate turns off the lights early, because she knows I sleep before midnight, because she knows I sleep better in the dark. I make her breakfast in the mornings because she isn't a morning person and we walk to class together, and because I know she likes my sandwiches and she loves my coffee.
My grandmother ties a red kalava (sacred Hindu thread) on my wrist, and presses a red teeka to my forehead every time she's praying and I'm around, because she believes it will protect me, because she believes her God, and my God will be kind to me.
My father slips a baby gif into my chat every day, because he knows it cheers me up, because it reminds him of me when I was younger, because for the two of us, I'm still just a baby.
All of this love, so immense, so important- it's all packed into the little things in life <3
@Clarisse29
For some unknown reason I didn't get the tag 🤦🏻♀️ Beautiful piece! You have such a wonderful loving family, and I'd be lucky if I had you as a roommate in uni 😀🤗
Great prompt! We dream so much and so big that sometimes we forget that's it's the little things in life that make us completed. 🤍
@Clarisse29 I am new but is it ok if I can start being tagged for prompts <3

Little Things
It's the little things in life,
That can make,
Or break,
The soul of humanity.
Every acknowledgment,
Every gesture,
Is interpreted,
Judged,
And remembered.
Thinking back,
We don't think of the bigger picture,
But of the feeling,
The intention,
Behind our actions.
It's all these little things,
That can change,
How we view,
This microcosm of a world.
