Prompt Of The Week: They came back every year to lay flowers at the spot.
Hello, community!
I hope you've been keeping well! Today I'm back with another prompt for the writing series, where I present you with a couple of writing prompts to exercise your creative muscles every week! If you haven't checked out the previous posts of the series, I've got you! You can find it here!
Without further ado, here is the prompt for today:
[mm yes two depressing poems in one day my favorite, TW for,, death]
I couldn't to to your funeral.
Your parent's wouldn't have liked that
Would they even remember me? I'm not sure.
It's probably for the best
This is their fault, after all
It wouldn't have been pretty if your best friend attacked your parents at your funeral.
They put you in a skirt. Doesn't that make your blood just boil?
I'm doing fine-ish now
But I suppose the worst is yet to come
When I show up next year and you're not there.
I mourn you every day...
I'd come lay flowers on your grave every year
If I knew where you were buried.

The Flower of A New Year
The first day of every year,
A day to celebrate a new beginning,
And new memories.
We sow the seeds of mindfulness,
And hope to grow,
The tulips of pride,
The sunflowers of acceptance,
And the roses of love.
Flowers take time to grow,
For the roots to dig deep,
Into our experiences and feelings,
To find the right grounding,
The stable foundation.
For a lovely flower to bloom,
It needs a foundation of patience,
A sip of care,
And the taste of aspiration.
They come back every year
to lay flowers on the spot.
To mourn, to hug, to cry.
But only once a year.
364 days a year they live
normal lives, forgetting what happened.
They come back every year
to lay flowers on the spot
where I died.

beautiful!
@Clarisse29 I want to be tagged for more prompts. Won't post here usually but would love prompts. ❤️
“The Stopwatch”
//
When love was young, and
Old was cool,
Time was never fast enough.
//
I laid my stopwatch on the gravel
Just for a moment—I got distracted, and
While I did look back, I
//
Let my feet follow my heart.
Emotions trampled, decades later,
I search for my little watch—
//
I find myself here
Every year
Remembering what I forgot.
//
My younger selves—they came
Back, every year,
To lay flowers at the spot
//
Where I’d run from time
Thinking I’d be fine—
Before love turned me inside out.
//
I’d like to be tagged for future prompts (not sure if I have to keep saying that). Also please no one steal my work. I am an author and take pride in my writing.

It started as a joke. They were trying to get a friend, Stephen, to believe that a hill on his property was a gravesite.
There was a big rock sitting at the top, and they brought flowers of various kinds to make it look like someone paid their respects.
Once they brought Stephen with them to the hilltop, they found that only the roses remained. They exchanged a look, but didn't bring it up.
Little did they know that there was some truth to their whole joke.
Stephen looked excited when he came to school the next day. Apparently, he'd talked about it with his elderly neighbor Mabel. There really was a girl who had died there, on the very day that they'd went up there... She was executed for using "magic".
Her name was Rose. And nobody had ever paid their respects to her back then for fear of setting her free. He wanted to find out who was leaving the roses.
They exchanged a look again, but didn't say anything.
Later on, they confirmed that what Stephen said was true. He never found out it was them doing it to begin with, but every year they would go pay their respects from then on...
They came back.
They came back.
They came back.
They came back.
And I loved them for it.
If I had been with them
We would have lied flowers there
By the grave of our favorite family member
But now, I lie by her side
In the ground
With her
My favorite person in the entire world
And now I lay with her
Happiness surrounds me
We are now reunited
Forever

It was once a place of grandeur
Memories of laughter, family and love
Where dreams are born realized and flourished
Yet, that place of joy, became a place of pain
Dreams shattered, too many pieces to gather
Broken and divided families
Aching hearts absent of laughter
But somehow,
They return every year to lay flowers,
Flowers at the spot
Where joy once was
And where loved reigned supreme
Years passed
And the flowers turned
Into a garden of healing

That is such a beautiful way to spin the prompt into something so positive. Great work! ❤️
