@slowdecline48 same. I am not comfortable pouring my heart out here just for google to share everything I ever said to anyone who starts asking the right questions. Yes it is a public forum. But there is a huge difference between anyone can read what you write here on the platform and Google telling anyone who asks your location, relationships, it even knew I live with my parents and work afternoon/nights. Like. Excuse me? Yes there was some bs. But it knew a lot when I asked targeted things. And I'm too considering if I should keep my account because I'm not comfortable sharing anything now until this AI thing is resolved. I filed a report with cups yesterday demanding they do something about this because we did not sign up for this. So we will see. In every case, I will certainly not be moving forward with much engagement until this is resolved because I'm not into being summarised. If someone wants to dox me, make em work for it. It's also extremely dangerous for members like tiny, who have genuine safety concerns
@slowdecline48 also best is that it didn't happen for I G or Reddit when I tried to do the same. And chatgpt also couldn't answer those questions. I didn't try other browser AIs yet but at least the report is filed and hopefully they can do something about it

@Amanda84 no it's not, because you can place things together. So maybe you don't have your real name tied to it but it makes it much easier to identify. If someone really wanted, they can figure it out
@sadcat13 That's right. Any capable sleuth can find different parts of your data trail, then put two & two together. Even if (s)he still doesn't know your real name, once enough info is assembled in a file then (s)he'll have a pretty good idea of who you are.
Also - some members still use pics of themselves for their avatars. Facetwin-type searches can, & sometimes do, find the correct match.
@slowdecline48 yep. The ai is as bad as it will ever get. It will just get more accurate and complex with time. I'm amazed how noone is alarmed by this. We are not YouTubers or influencers so people should not be able to type in questions about us and be given complex answers without actually putting in the work to look through our stuff. Especially Google has no business telling other people about our struggles with mental and physical health. Like come on

@Amanda84 oh sweet summer child. The thing is, decent people like you or me would never go around trying to find the real identity behind profiles. Simply because we understand the concept of anonymous platform. It's always the problematic and not well meaning people who want to know who someone is. The problem isn't that AI tells people yes this is a user on this platform and they are active. It is about ai being as bad as it can get right now.
It will just be more advanced. So right now it mixes some bs in. But with a few updates it will not. It takes information from both your posts, others and your forum engagement in comments. So while going sadcat13 in 7cups will not give you a lot, once you start asking sadcat13 7cups boyfriend, identity, where are they from etc. You will get unsettlingly 75% accurate details, and details that are inaccurate are not some you should be seeing in that search result either because its other users vulnerable data and in most wrong answers i even know whose is whitch.
Trust me, I tried. It even knows things like Kiara has a carpal tunnel or I had a wisdom tooth removal, even down to details like where am I and my boyfriend from or what sort of shifts I work once you start asking the right questions. That's the problem. That once you start asking it will slowly give you a profile. Maybe not the legal name or who is behind it. But pieces that will make it much easier for those who try to complete the puzzle. And that's something only a certain type of people will do, one that you exactly do not want to have access to it. There is no too little information for someone who wants, there are literally people online proving so by finding someone's location from barely any information as a showcase of internet security. And those materials are provided by people themselves, purposefully doing it in a way they think will not be possible to find. So with enough patience and puzzle pieces, the question is not if, but how long will it take for this to backfire on someone horribly.
I also tried checking but it does not do the same for Reddit or I G, asked chat Gpt too and it basically told me the platform is anonymous and to go cope, what is the correct answer any ai should give.
@sadcat13 I've known the forums were publicly accessible, and have tried with helping make this known to members.
I also posted late 2025 when I noticed 7cups threads showing up in Google searches again.
Even with that, I find the summary a little invasive (even with it all being nice). It's difficult than just grouping all my posts together.

They also reduce anonymity. When people are sharing details of issues they want to get support on, plus their favourite book, animal, childhood memory etc etc etc there are more personal details being shared that allow others to identify them
At the time I certainly wasn't considering how AI would factor in. Going through multiple links to put together posts takes time. An AI summary? It can put a lot together about someone fairly quickly.
@AffyAvo I don't mind ice breakers or building in platform friendships with others, but it should not all be readily served to anyone who asks google for it. Especially since if you wanted to let's say find where I am from, if I have a partner etc. You woulf have to go through my post history and find my replies on forum threads what is making it much harder to ever get a full picture of someone's life. These summaries are very dangerous and I hope my report will be taken seriously
@AffyAvo yes that's the thing. That in a way yes cups is a public forum and whatever we post is publicly accessible. But having a summary of our profile on Google is extremely disturbing. I tried multiple prompts from sadcat13 identity, boyfriend, work, where are they from etc and the amount of things is got right when I started to ask targeted things was messed up.
Yes it is a publicly accessible website. But come on. The ai as the worst it will ever be. And at this stage it can spit out half of your life to anyone who just asks. It's extremely concerning. We share things here with various degree of personal from meme and game thread to literally hard trauma or personal pen pal threads many people explicitly add disclaimers to that if you are not tagged there you have no business checking. But everything is shared under the assumption of safety how cups was marketed to us. None of us were aware of the Google summary bs. And I assume most of us would have never consented to it.
I could technically understand listener profiles showing up, as they are here to help, but Google has no business having a summary of me or anyone else's MENTAL HEALTH platform content. I filed a report with cups yesterday and asked if there is something going to be done about it because I'm not comfortable sharing things under these circumstances. Yes it is a public forum. But come on. If someone wants to dox me at least make em work for it so it's a fair game.
Also what's interesting is that it did not happen with Reddit (you can turn off showing up in Google search I think?) Or I G. I have a private profile there but it was public for a good while as I share my art. So it's interesting this problem seems to be only with cups and double disturbing thanks to that.
