Two ladies talk about themselves endlessly to the point where I am ready to change tables but in the meantime I’d like to know some ways of coping

I am a caregiver for an elderly woman with NPD. The gray rock method, giving no engagement or emotional feedback, works best for me. If a question is being asked, answer it in a way that doesn't invite follow-up. It's a quiet way of withholding attention. If they aren't engaging with you and just talking, the only thing that you can do is cease to be their audience.

Now that you know what it is, you will be able to spot It. My advice is to take many many moments before responding or reacting to the whoevers.

I don't know if this perspective is going to work. I live with a narcissist, my brother, for his case is actually very easy to analyze and see it. But let me tell you something, is not going to be good for you try to notice this behavior's from people. Is better to assume everyone is a good person, less stress for your brain.

But well, you have options, not giving them room. Ignore them is a way, when my brother say something stupid I basically i don't look and I don't say anything, he gives up instantly. Silence is a good weapon when it's well used. You can also, giving the minimum space no giving them what they want playing with them a little bit and then excuse your self to get out if you can. Of course you can do also another thinks like, actually keep talking to them like everyone, I do it sometimes, no because I want something about them, because when they behave in the way they actually need to behave like a normal person you make them notice that, basically positive reinforcement. They actually listen to you? "Ey, thanks for liste man". People adore and love to be recognized. If they do something good, reinforce it, that is actually I mostly do with everyone. Since that is more easy to live. And the good thing is, it can also applied to everyone not only narcissistic ones. And no, is not manipulation, is recognize what other people do, always, thar keep your brain in shape because your focusing in good things and thst prevents to not alienate your self. Everyone have some narcissistic behavior in some way if toy think about it. But if you encounter bad people, actually bad people, dont give them space and actually, telling them what actions are not good is also a good way to set limits.

Hope my way of seeing this issue is useful and i wish you a cousy and relaxing day, you deserve it. Thx for sharing your situation. Good luck.
