Orlando Nightclub Tragedy - Discussion & Support
Early this morning a mass shooting occured at a gay night club in Orlando, Florida. Recent reports site that 50 people were killed and many more injured.

I am deeply saddened by this news report and wanted to create a space for us to talk about this tragedy and support one another. Please share how you are feeling here and lets have a supportive discussion that lifts our hearts up and honors those who have been impacted.
I was shocked to learn of this tragedy. Especially sad is not only the hatred demonstrated towards the LGBTQ+ community, but the fact that such an evil group as ISIS could plan that much destruction. My heart breaks for all involved and affected.
I wish the world could just learn to love and accept each other

This is never going to end. The world is going to be like this. Did those shooters ever think about the families ? Why would they kill so many people in there ? Are lives that easily taken nowadays ? I feel like US needs to ban guns. I know they have guns because there are no police stations at some distant areas, then why not prevent it than allowing your citizens to have guns ? Let's be honest, we are not living in a peaceful world. We will never go back to peace. Schools should start teaching life than algebra.
@raniee so i mean thats great and all but look at what happened to France.... If we enforced the laws we have it would be ok. If u banned guns people will make them. I am pretty sure if u ban them it could be unconstantional. The guy in Orlando was a Muslims. They do not like homosexuality. He also pledged his alleance to ISIS and they take everything in the Koran serisouly. "Guns dont't kill people" people kill people. My heart goes to the ones who died in Orlando what happened so wrong. What happened to the America that was picture it with arms wide open.... That is what we picture but it is not seen now or in our history.
Events like Orlando just make me feel more anxious about being publically out, I've avoided being in relationships and dating because I'm so scared of what other people could do. I'm out to my friends and family but the outside world is a scary place. I wish my lgbt brothers and sisters never ever have to worry about the possibility of violence just for being true to themselves.

I come into here as a newbie to this page and as a Muslim and I want to reaffirm that the actions of this man are horrendous and disgusting. They have no place in modern society, and his actions are not representative of that of many Muslims like myself who support LGBTQ+ rights and the overwhelming majority of Muslims who condemn violence. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their friends and family, the LGBTQ+ and Orlando community and all those affected my this senseless.

@ThatEmotionalEngineer I am from Canada don't know if any others are from my country but I see American news and media and how the United States handles terrible events like this. I want you to know that I do not view these acts as ones commited by a real Muslim man. The man that did this had no faith only hate. I am seeing so much hate towards Muslims in the US and it saddens me

The hatred towards Muslims angers and frightens me every bit as much as the hatred towards the LGBT community. It isn't right. I am furious that there are those who would use this tragedy against our community as an excuse to target Muslims. I look forward to the day when we can all live in peace, because that is the America I believe in.

why cant we just live our lives on this earth in peace...why must we fill it with hatred and cruelty and violence...such a short time here. death is so soon.
So I ran into the news on sunday morning and it was heartbreaking. Just wanted to know how are you all doing. Im very far away from what happened, but it reminded me of similar hate crimes that have been commited in my country (im from South Am.) 20 years ago in my city some extremist (neo nazis and extreme right wings) set a whole LBGT nightclub on fire and many people died too. This incident reminded me a lot of that and then I thought about all my friends and family who are from the LBGT community and my heart broke.
