Hello I'm Zena I go by Nina and I have been a member since August 2014. I was really distraught one day and I was searching the internet for a depression chat room. I checked out several but once I came across 7 cups it felt warm and comfy so I've been here every since. I have suffered from depression, anxiety, and ptsd most of my life. I enjoy learning from other's experiences while also sharing mine in hopes that it will give them encouragement and support as well

Where to begin without writing too much. I have been suffering alone with depression for an eternity some moments in life are better than others. I have always had low self-esteem, loneliness, horrible insomnia and many others that coincide with depression. I am an extremely empathetic person, to a fault, one of my biggest faults. I feel everything I absorb all the emotions thrown out by everyone. Doesn?t matter if I read it, see it watch it hear or sense it. It becomes mine.

Went through an adoption, realized my spouse was cheating on me, and had a huge internet porn addiction, moved to another country, went through a horrendous earthquake, my young daughter was diagnosed with PDD-NOS, ADD, ODD hearing loss, emotional and other issues, moved back to the states, went through a divorce and drove across the country with my daughter.

My depression is becoming harder and harder to deal with, my daughter?s needs are becoming overwhelming. I am alone. I cannot do this anymore. I do not know how to help my daughter, I do not know how to help myself and I am not the best parent these days.I am a single mother to a special needs child with no support, friends, or help. Sure, I have coworkers that I associate with from 9-5, I have my sister close by that is too busy with her life and her family, a brother on the opposite, coast and another sister dealing with her own demons. I spend my lunch break on the phone trying to get support, therapies, school advocates, and doctor appointments for my daughter. My crappy paying job is at least accepting for now, some of the appointments I need to go to for my daughter. But where does that leave me? There is not enough time in the day to do all that is needed to be done, I have to fight the HUGE homework battle every night, cook, clean and care for my daughter. The more I write the more I want to curl up and hide away, the more I reread what I have just written the more Icry.

I do not want to be alone anymore, but who wants in on this mess I call my life?

You are certainly someone of my tribe. That empathy you feel is something that makes you the best and most amazing mother to your daughter. Reading this I connected , it may be stange as I am a 20 year old girl but I totally completely see where you a coming from. Firstly I commend you on being such a loving person and mother , so many people would not be doing what you are doing for your daughter. I have a strong relationship with my mum and on behalf of your daughter I thank you for your effort to protect and love. Secondly, my mum has had 2 divorces in her life and I have been through them both with her and very similar situations. I want you to know that you are valued by the person who will love you forever which is your daughter. You are valued by your family and by your coworkers and by the check out chick and by the postman. All these people value and acknowledge you from a far and know that there is happiness to come. Things for you must be extremely tough and you're fighting which you should be so proud of ! Youre giving your daughter a life, your working, you're aware of family struggles and you are one hell of a good person !!!! As humans we learn to rebuild from the rubble. And we can do it individually to make our lives a little bit more sunny :) xxoo

Thank you so much for your kind words.... They mean a lot, made my cry to read them, happy tears... Thank you for understanding... Been through my own 2 divorces, and the oldest child while my mom got divorced so I basically raised my siblings while she went to school and worked to support us...

Hi, my name is Ingrid and I am a Listener here on 7Cups. I have recently been a little "Missing in Action". The reason for this is... well, depression.

I suffer from depression myself, and my feeling bad inspired me to want to help others to feel better when they're down. I'll admit, it's been a little hard for me to help when I'm having trouble helping myself, but when I do spare an hour or two to chat with someone and show support, I end up feeling a little better about myself.smiley Remember, small steps may SEEM silly/pointless/weak/useless because they're so small... but taking smaller steps will increase your likelihood of success! You have to try and be realistic, I find... if your goals are set too high, you're more likely to stop trying it because it's too difficult/too frequent/too scary/too whatever.... but I think the trick is to try in small increments. This seems to work the best for me... and it's how I've been able to come back to 7Cupslittle by little.

Here I am, just typing one post for now, but maybe I'll come back tomorrow. And if I don't, I won't beat myself up over it... because I'm trying.yes

This seems like a great community. Thank you to whoever came up with this idea/organized it/made it happen!!!heart

Where to start without it turning into a rant? I'm new here although I've been lurking a while as a guest. (Sorry). Names cat and I'm 26, had a bit of a rough year, I broke up with my bf of three years just over a year ago which was a positive thing, we had grown apart, my life was going really well after that seeing someone new, sorting my life out, happy in my job etc. Long story short he made it impossible for me to stay in the town I love and had me evicted. I live in a new town now where I know noone. I've lived here since January and I feel so isolated! The person I was seeing dumped me on xmas eve, people avoid me because of the things my ex did and because of my depression which has dented my self confidence further.( Finding out I have health problems hasnt added too my confidence either) Depression isn't new to me, as a teenager I was sectioned for depression but as an adult I've had no issues with depression (I got sad sure, but not depressed) im a freakishly bubbly positive person in general so depression for me is an odd mix of planning to sort myself out and hiding from the world. I'm self employed and no longer go to work as I can't face the people critiquing me. To make it worse I have a job based on looks and am 7 weeks into attempting to recover from atypical anorexia. So between my depression that makes me hide in my house like a child and my bloating I'm just not working and I'm running out of ways to pay my bills/afford food as all my savings were blown on having to moving house right after taking 3 months off work for cosmetic surgery. I have to get out of this depressive state, medication is not an option. I just sit at home all day and night thinking, only things that are making me feel better are limited exercise and my new website so I'm throwing myself into those this week. I can't run while starting recovery from ed which is what i do to cheer myself up usually. I'm a complete mess and so ashamed of this, I am too anxious to even go out this week, I just cry. Ah... that did turn into a bit of a rant. Sorry! I'm usually less ranty more cheery but today is one of those days.

hi there...

my name is kristin, and this is my first time on a depression forum. i'm just looking for people to chat and share with mostly.

I have a lot of health stuff going on (I have lupus and also had a brain tumor removed a few years ago), and those things weigh heavy on me a lot of the time. I have a wonderfully supportive husband, and an 8 year old son, both of whom I love dearly, but my life is pretty drab these days.

Due to the lupus and depression, I have severely limited energy and lack of interest in doing a lot of stuff, so I'm struggling with that.

So that's the basics of me...hoping to meet some people to talk with on this board...

Hi!

Posting here because I recently noticed that all my positive emotions are muffled, and have been for about a decade now.

It kinda sucks!

Hi! I have been suffering from depression after my son was born, now 6 years ago. I found out that I have thyroid problems (like my mom and sister), and taking thyroid medication helped a bit. I've also been trying to deal with my condition by meditating, eating clean and meditation. But somehow, during the past weeks, the depression crept back in.

I did get helped immensely during a 1-on-1 chat earlier today :) I hope I'll get better soon...

Hi. Depression, self pity, and anxiety are all relatively new feelings. Would love to share but my story is long and complicated. If you pray, just remember me in your prayers. Not even close to being a saint or a devil. Just a person who is struggling and failing. Thanks!

I'm not new but need to post. I am feeling depressed. I am in love with someone who totally abandoned me a week ago and I just found out he became Facebook friends with my arch nemesis - the other woman who was always an issue in our communication. He always told me how crazy she was and he was done with her but I'm convinced he's either with her or will be. I'm heartbroken. Two years of hoping, wishing, praying to be together finally (we were friends but extremely close, hooked up, went on trips together, discussed being a couple, etc) just ended abruptly. He was one of my closest friends and one of the few I could talk to.
