How has depression affected your sleep habit?
Depression can have serious and mild affects in our sleeping patterns or habit.
How has depression affected your sleep pattern or habit?
Will love to hear from you
That I
I'm no longer sure, why I don't feel as sleepy during the day, when I'm working on less than 3 hours of sleep. In the past, I'd blame it on Depression, that I could still function with little sleep. Now, I'm not sure if it's the lingering depression, or that I love my job. So, that as long as I'm at work and doing my job, I'm wide awake. Or the factor might be both?~
Hi! I find that depression really affects my sleeping habits! Since my depression has gotten worse, I find it really difficult to go to sleep, and when I do manage to sleep, I wake up often in the night. Also, I used to wake up quite early, but now I find myself sleeping in at least an hour later than I used to.
Off and on I
Sharing some of the stuffs i noticed on myself.
I dont think my sleep ever improved, but rather the feedbacks/changes that i noticed.
I never really had a "true" rest or sleep. As in something that makes me feeling refreshed.
There are days, times, where I "sleep" but the mind is constantly pounding, worrying, ruminating, thinking restlessly.
Some of the times, when I sleep, are actually due to exhaustion.
Sometimes actually is just by timing.
Sometimes the body is just fatigued, but the mind is not. Hence lying on the bed all day, but constantly pondering in the head.
I wonder if there is a true way for hoping or getting a good true rest.

Oh I hear you! My head spins from the second i wake up until i collapse exhausted. I will fight sleep in an effort to solve my problems or organise my day ahead in my head. That neverending list.
My list recently got so bad i didnt sleep for what seemed like weeks and i was shaking and a mess. Its a viscous cycle.

See you have a tough time too. Yea the neverending thing is the most irritating and pressuring part.

You know what's worse? I am fighting with the issue of trying to make decisions, but this perfectionist mindset just doesnt allow it. Hence resulting in the list ever growing only. Never being addressed.
Do take care and lookout for yourself Aries.

I've noticed that it's hard for me to fall asleep without having someone to talk to before. My loneliness is one of the things that keeps me up and makes my brain and emotions very overactive at night. This means that I have to disregard knowing that screens before bed are horrible for sleep, because I crave connections with others. Even though I generally sleep 8+ hours every night, I usually wake up exhausted and most of my energy is gone within 4 or 5 hours of waking up. I don't take naps just because I don't have time for them. I have to be able to function. Even when I do sleep really well I tend to have very vivid, emotional dreams, it seems like my mind goes into autopilot mode when I'm asleep, like it's never truly resting. That could partially explain why I'm so tired and physically in pain everyday. Advice/suggestions welcome.

I will share my opinion but may not be acurrate.
I am glad that you manage to find something that supports your sleep, despite the struggles. Perhaps letting go of your thoughts, emotions, anything, allows the mind, body, soul slightly more relaxed and "let go of". Hence the rest/sleep, instead of the rumination and train of thoughts that rushes because of the loneliness and not being able to push away or sorts. I understand where your coming from about screens and blue light thing. Social Media, Internet, Professionals, Self-Help, etc. they have been recommending to avoid it. But I feel sometimes though backed by science, some people may react differently, and still able to cope with it. While some it helps actually. So only you will be able to judge if it is aiding or disrupting. If not otherwise, try to juggle the time abit such that you can have a bit of gap time before bed.

I see, so the energy comes as a burst in the morning. Like what I've shared.
Until today this part I still unable to find any answers or solution to it. I apologise...
There are researches and stuffs out there, but i dont really know who to trust and seek anymore for now.
No matter what, do still take care of yourself and stay strong.
@River My sleeping habits have changed a lot in the past few years, I've found it very hard to fall asleep even when I'm exhausted from a long day and go straight to bed I still lay in bed for a few hours normally till about 2-4 am thinking of basically everything. Even once I do fall asleep I wake up 1-3 times every night, sometimes it's random waking up but most of the time its from nightmares. From going to bed late to waking up a few times every night I'm constantly feeling exhausted through the weeks and I wish I would/could do more to change this.
I think i do sleep, however it is always restless, like I'd wake up more tired than i went to sleep. I wouldn't really call them nightmares, but my dreams are always overactive, and it makes me not like sleeping, even when i just lie in bed all day. Its really weird.
I can nolonger have control of my sleep pattern, when depression lets me sleep I sleep with tormenting nightmares, I sleep for days or none at all but true sleep I never had with depression in 8 years...
My depression and bipolar disorder coupled with my natural high-energy and or peppy personality have made it next to impossible to sleep. The medication helps some, but the dreams are so intense, I can
I dont ever sleep when its time to sleep. I stay up on my phone or just staring into space. But at the same time during the day all I want to do is sleep. If I didnt have school or a job I would stay in bed for days without moving. Sometimes its all I can do to get up.
@TiredRaven
@TiredRaven : I would like to help you out what worked for me. Just keep your mobile phone in switched off mode while you are ready to sleep. It really helps. You will feel very easy. Try it may works for you too 😊
i think i have both insomnia and hypersomnia. it's weird, i know, but i take SO LONG to fall asleep, and at the same time whenever i dont have to wake up with an alarm (for school) and i fall asleep, i only wake up like 13 hours later. one time i slept like 17 hours, no joke. but maybe that was also me wanting to isolate myself.
