Talking about our inner child and how we an be happier if we release it.
Childhood is a time in life that we are fond of remembering. The reason is that when we are children we have an inexhaustible source of enthusiasm; any object can become a toy, any activity can be an adventure. Over time, we become adults, stress and responsibilities come to dominate our lives, and we often forget to set aside time to play, to connect with our inner child.
It is important to give a hand to this child that we all have inside us. Some studies show that dedicating time to childhood activities, which do not involve responsibility or competitiveness, but rather disinhibition and play, is related to higher levels of happiness and lower levels of stress.
It is necessary to relearn how to live life as a world of games and games. To do this, I share below eight different ways to release the inner child within us.
Activities to connect with your inner child.
To Color.
Perhaps you are familiar with the phenomenon of mandala coloring books. If not, ask about it at the nearest bookstore and you'll be surprised.
This is not just a passing fad. When we color, we immerse ourselves in a state of concentration and disconnection from everyday problems that helps us reduce stress.
Play Outdoors.
Children, especially in open environments, run, jump, climb on everything in front of them. However, as adults, what we do in nature tends to be more passive: we eat something, walk and, in some cases, play sports.
Although all these activities are beneficial, the key at this point is to do more unstructured activities, which break our routine and put the body in unusual situations, in order to practice skills such as balance.
It is good, for example, to climb trees, swing on a swing, jump rope, etc., because these are unusual physical states. Outdoor games take us out of the sedentary life that many of us lead.
These practices and games not only reduce stress and awaken forgotten areas of our brain, but once they are practiced, they release endorphins, excite us and connect with our adventurous side.
Daydream.
Daydreaming is the equivalent of taking time to ourselves, with nothing to do, in which we let our minds roam free.
It can be in any situation: lying in the park, taking a shower, or simply sitting on the sofa at home looking out the window.
The key is not to feel guilty about being “wasting time” and take a moment to set your mind at ease, away from the ongoing stream of day-to-day responsibilities.
Daydreaming not only gives us a breather, but it's also a good mechanism to boost creativity, as often when we let ideas fly they reorganize and make connections that allow us to see reality and the problems we have in our lives. hands in a different way.
To Create.
Speaking of creativity, any activity related to it is a perfect stimulant for positive mood. It has been shown that people with a creative hobby are less stressed while doing it.
Children paint, make collages, pasta necklaces, puzzles... the important thing here is to release our creativity, our desire to produce something, even if it won't bring any material benefit, and even that we believe that we're not good at it. thing.
Do you like cooking, drawing, building models? You can choose what you want, the important thing is to work with your hands on activities that help us take life less seriously, at least for a period of time, and connect with our inner child.
To Hug.
Children are much more uninhibited when it comes to maintaining physical contact. Unfortunately, as we get older, we put more physical barriers between us.
However, hugging, holding hands, showing affection for the people we love through contact are sources of happiness.
Sleep Well.
Sometimes we sacrifice the hours of sleep to be able to carry out all the activities we propose to do, but sleeping well and resting the body and mind is essential for health, both physical and mental.
When we sleep we regenerate, and it is the only way to reach an optimal state of energy to face the challenges of everyday life. Sometimes a nap can be a way to renew your strength for the rest of the day.
So, don't think you're wasting time while sleeping. In reality you are investing in yourself.
Don't be afraid to make mistakes.
When we are children, we are learning everything and it is normal to make mistakes several times: this is part of learning.
For some reason, as adults we tend to see mistakes as failures rather than parts of the path, which causes the fear of making mistakes to paralyze us and distance us from our desires and goals.
Whenever you can, get rid of your prejudices, play, run, jump, lose your balance and do activities without any practical or economic purpose. You'll see how you'll regain some of the illusion and excitement you'll certainly remember as a childhood treasure.
The inner child that you have inside is waiting for you to take it by the hand and take it out to have fun.
