@7motivation - that is what I thought too. I kept seeing little reviews and clips and all the hype of quote Mary Poppins *2* unquote, for it was not meant to be a sequel. It is really a separate movie, though some of the characters are 'the same' or themselves grown up.
The very first thing I said, at the end of my first viewing of "Mary Poppins Returns," was "Good job, Emily!" (Emily Blunt - the actress who played the character of Mary Poppins here in 2018).
I definitely respect your position, "Mary Poppins" (1964) with Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke, was and IS an amazing movie that will be firmly cemented in my memories of what should we watch? when I was a kid. I love that movie. I adore Julie Andrews. and it all comes (in this case) through Walt Disney himself = awesome!!!! ~ Platy

@Goldenbutterflyofhope - Hi butterfly! (I love your question and topic/thread btw, good job.) Is something wrong with your phone? or method of entry? The syntax and grammar don't really make sense in some of your posts :( Example, this one: do you mean no no or know know ... and what is a dark era in the context here?
As The Little Mermaid was released in 1989, it is often 'lumped' in with the Disney movies of the 1990s. In part, *I* think because it did so very well in the theaters, and sales of 'everything' Little Mermaid during and after the theatrical release.
I'm not sure how the Disney company got out of their "Dark Era," but several different websites have different starting times for this. I found this site https://www.rebeatmag.com/the-12-best-films-of-disneys-dark-age/ that seems to focus on the GOOD things that came from this 'low?' time. It seems the dates are the late 60s, all 70s, and majority of 80s - with a huge leap out of the Dark Age with the work on and production of "The Little Mermaid" which premiered in 1989. The dark time for the Disney corporation seems to begin at or just after Walt Disney himself died (1966) and most seem to agree it ended in 1988, with the release of the mermaid in 1989.
This article reminded me of the Disney movie "Pollyanna" (1960). "If you look for the bad in mankind expecting to find it, you surely will." A reverse type quote ... Look for the GOOD, the positive, in yourself and others; you can and you will find that too! And be thankful. And I, Platy, would say, there are a whole ton of people who love you and would show up to see you off on the train. You are not alone (telling self too)! Just go watch it - it is a wonderful film and definitely worth 2hrs 14mins of your time :) Have a super week!

@Goldenbutterflyofhope - okay. I didn't know what you meant. What I wrote about is what I found around online, articles and searching "Disney" + "dark era" etc etc. I hear how you meant, but for the term itself it most definitely included the 1970s too.
re: auto correct ... that is only one reason why I go back and personally spell check and sometimes grammar check my own texts - by phone. The program here, on the website anyway, seems to check only spelling. Oh well. ~ Platy

There's such a vast variety to choose from but "Tinker Bell" and "Bambi" are my all time favourites. And "The Jungle Book". And if we're not limiting ourselves to animated, then "The chronicle sof Narnia" and "The princess diaries" are lovely too!
Disney makes both super good animation and live. Action . You brought. Up a good point there @ListenLitany

(No offense intended, dear Emma!) For me, it is so hard seeing the "live-action" version of *all* my most favorite Disney classic animated movies! While most of them I've never seen in theaters, to me the animated version will always be the 'right' or oldest or best version.
I would very much like to see the "Lady and the Tramp" 'live-action' version, though. With (ominous music) The Virus! (run away run away!) I do not know if it was played in theaters at all. Does anyone know where I can see it? or if it will come out as 'live' version on DVD? This is mostly because I love doggos so much and in the animated version there were a lot of breeds represented :)

P.S. Interesting Fact about Platy: This one, Beauty and the Beast (1991), and Aladdin (1992) are two of the best films (animated or live-action) that I can quote/sing the ENTIRE beginning. Yes, without the script. The first 10 minutes easily :)

I love Pixar they are with Disney.. I love all the beautiful work done on the films ... The Animation
Coloring is better of course in the newer movies but the classics are still right up there with the awesome ones they have made over the later years
Toy Story 1 2 3 4 are probably my Favs .. Old ones yes Snow White and many more.
