New Forum Section: Migraine Awareness & Support
Hi everyone! I hope you are well. According to migraine.com, Migraine is the third most prevalent and sixth most disabling illness across the globe. Migraines are something many experiences and it can be challenging to carry out day to day tasks and migraines can have an impact on one's mental health. In order to better support people with migraines, we are starting this forum space where people experiencing migraines can receive support.
We are looking for dedicated members and listeners who can support this forum space. If you are interested in supporting this forum then please find more information here.

Very pleased to see this thread! As a long-time migraine sufferer, I've found it's difficult to find support from those who've never experienced a migraine. 9 times out of 10 I get the "The headache will pass!" which downplays just how much suffering one goes through with a migraine. I know I always want to shout "It's not just a headache!" Thanks for providing this space for support!
I am not sure that I understand, or rather I don't think I fully understand. This is a new thread? no, it seems bigger than that. Yet it does not seem to be a new sub-community because you would say that and it would show up in the list of sub-comm to join. This #MigraineAwarenessandSupport is a new section of the forum? What does this mean, please?
I've had some migraines and thankfully I know that mine are not as debilitating as some others experience. I'm not sure quite how I could help, but while this is my (m) account I am a (L)-adult also - so I could help with compassionate listening? or compassionate responses? (like in the forum??) @cyanPlatypus6370 There are forums that are not subcommunities. The forums had sections, before subcommunities existed and for a while there were only a few subcommunities.
Now, the majority of forums also are part of a subcommunity so it's less obvious of those that are not. There are other areas like this though, for example, Autism Spectrum Disorder isn't a subcommunity, neither is the OCD/BFRB community (which is probably even more confusing with having community in the name).
@AffyAvo Yes, I know. That didn't really answer my question. So the topic of Migraine Support .... how is it new or different now? Again what does it mean that it has it's own 'forum section?' I was part of 7cups before sub-communities even existed so I do remember when there were just 2 or 3. We still do not have a "grief" or "grief and loss support" type of sub-community. (Although I suppose some could argue that the current events sections and group chat COULD fall into the grief/loss support. I guess it would for certain things, for me.) I really could use much more grief/loss support right now. ~ Platy
@cyanPlatypus6370 It sounds like you're more asking why, rather than a explanation of forum sections. Hope or someone else would have to explain that. In the past, migraine theads were within the Disability subcommunity (and Chronic Pain & Illness before that).
@AffyAvo I don't know who up-voted that reply, but I won't be. I am not asking for rational or reasons for. I do not understand many things about 7cups but I just have to accept that I don't know "why" on many things. I AM asking for an explanation of forum stuff on 7cups. I do not understand the forum very well and I thought you could help. If you are unwilling to answer my Q, please just say so and not guess that I am asking a question that would be more properly asked to someone else - like @Hope for example. The forum is complicated enough (for me) so, yeah. I do not mean to be mean or argumentative, Affy. I just really don't understand. (and I had no idea there were threads about migraines on 7cups before - nor would I have known where to find them.) Good night. ~ Platy
@cyanPlatypus6370 Sorry, I incorrectly interpreted what you were asking, you seem to navigate the forums well to me from what I can tell by your posting.
Migraine Awareness & Support ie. https://www.7cups.com/forum/MigraineAwarenessSupport_203/ is a forum section that was created within the last month. Various migraine threads can now be added to this section.
All of the forum sections (whether they are part of a subcommunitee or not) can be found here - https://www.7cups.com/forum/
In general, one can search the forums, although the search tool is slow and very basic. Typing in migraine to the search (top right hand corner once int he forums) will bring up every thread with the word migraine in it.

Yes I do, including the the kind that cause momentary blindness (forget the name - optical, something like that).
