What is the one event in history you're obsessed with and can't stop researching?

Currently I'm too busy to get obsessed with any historic event, but one that has captured my interest lately...isn't one. It's three:

  • the Assyrian Genocide
  • the Greek Genocide
  • the Armenian Genocide

The above atrocities were perpetrated by the last of the Ottomans & the "Young Turk" regime of Mustafa Kemal...that is, the last Muslim empire* & its modern successor.

*the last legit one, that is. There was the Islamic State (ISIS) of Syria & eastern Iraq, but most governments didn't consider it a legitimate nation-state.

@AbigailListener7Cups Current but not unique...or truly new. Russia has been expansionary & paranoid toward European powers for at least four centuries now. Gaza has been fought over/on by various powers ever since the old Israelite kingdom split into Israel & Judah, & then was taken by the Assyrians...ditto for Syria.

@7Bear7 Yeah...I feel like Epaminondas doesn't get enough credit as a general. For his time & place, he was quite innovative.

@jesusredeemedme2425 Historians think the cause was mass hysteria, ergot poisoning, or both. I find it interesting because nobody knows what truly caused it. And it spread all over Europe.
