Am I the Only One Who...?
Hey everyone 💚
I’ve been thinking lately about how often we feel alone in our thoughts — like no one else could possibly feel the way we do. I wanted to create a space where we can break that silence.
This is a thread where we can all finish the sentence:
👉 “Am I the only one who…”
Whether it’s something deep, awkward, random, emotional, or just super specific — share it here. Chances are, someone else will relate.
✨ A few examples:
-
Am I the only one who feels drained after being around people, even the ones I love?
-
Am I the only one who finds it hard to celebrate my own achievements?
-
Am I the only one who overthinks literally everything?
You’re not weird. You’re not broken. You're human. 🫶
Feel free to reply to others too — a simple “me too” can make someone feel seen. 💬
Let’s be real, be kind, and remind each other that we’re not alone in how we feel. I’ll go first in the comments ⬇️
With care,
[Eman144] 🌿
Honestly, I think it comes from fear of rejection from other people. Fear of expressing your views. I've faced this a lot.
The right people will find you, which os why I love 7Cups. It's a safe space here to express yourself!
@JLWells
That makes a lot of sense — fear of rejection is such a powerful force. When you've been shut down, dismissed, or misunderstood in the past, it's only natural to start guarding yourself. It's like your heart builds walls just to stay safe.
Expressing your views, your truth, or even just being seen can feel risky. Vulnerability always carries that fear of "what if they don't accept me?" But you're right — the right people will find you. And more importantly, they'll respect you for exactly who you are.
It’s really encouraging to hear that you’ve found comfort in a space like 7Cups. Everyone deserves a place where they can speak freely and be heard with compassion. Just knowing there is a space like that can be a lifeline.
Thank you for sharing that. You’re not alone in this, and your voice deserves to be heard — safely, and without fear.❣
@Eman144 what a great question 😊
Am I the only one who can never say no? Even when other people are wrong, I'm saying sorry, even when people deserve one chance, I give them two, even when I should shut the door firmly, I leave it a little ajar? Even when I don't want someone in my life, I listen to their own reasoning instead of trusting mine!
me too!
@fossilfellow
we r here for u too
@Amanda84
There's a certain poetic quality in the way you write, it's beautiful.
You've already made tremendous progress. You've identified the feeling so that if you choose to do something about it, you can now.
@cyanessence thank you 😊 I'm never shy of learning new things about myself especially when Ive been doing something reactive instead of something that adds to my life 😊
Oh that’s me all over lol
@Amanda84
I feel this so much. It's okay to be kind, but it's also okay to protect your peace. Learning to say no doesn’t make you a bad person—it makes you a balanced one. You're allowed to choose you.💜
@Eman144 balance is the crucial word here, thank you 💜
@Eman144
here’s the continued…
am i the only one who feels guilty of other ppls actions, like their mine?
am i the only one who doesn’t understand world? I feel like it’s unreal, idk what is real either. It’s all just some material world but what is it really and what am i in it? It’s very hard to explain this feeling and you’ll underdtand it only when u feel it, i g. It’s like you feel kinda disconnected from everything. Like the material world is so meaningless and so not worth, so out of it, so weird.. i really wish i could put it in words so pol would underdtand what i mean.
@Tsuk
It's like the complexity of the world drowns out any possibility of a meaningful existence, making it almost feel like a bad dream. There's too much noise, it's incoherent. It feels like it couldn't possibly mean anything.
If we could find a way to see how things are actually simple, you might feel differently. I believe things are simple in essence, but I'm just following my intuition.
@cyanessence
yeah. I understand what you mean i think. And following intuition is good. Idk if it’s the complexity of life for me. I’m not sure what it is, it just feels meaningless and out of it. Maybe i think too much, i shoukd think less. But i can’t. I live here and it eats to know what it is and what am i and that it has an actually meaning or the “why am i doing this”
@Tsuk
I had a go at coming up with what could be the meaning of life. It's in the Motivation & Accountability section of the forums if you're interested.
I do get what you're feeling I think. I once just felt like nothing truly mattered.
Me too
Am I the only one who cry sometimes without any reason??
@thoughtfulNectarine910
not the only one🫂🫂🫂🫂totally not. It happens. Maybe there’s reason what you’re not aware of, it’s totally normal i think, tho it feels off, yes
@thoughtfulNectarine910
You’re definitely not alone. Sometimes emotions just come out without a clear reason.
No you're not alone. I sometimes cry even when there's nothing to cry about haha
Thanks for the opportunity to write this.
Am I the only one who hates themselves for the mistakes I made and can't stop thinking about them even though all that does is make me regret them more?
@MintMooncake ur not alone🫂
@MintMooncake
You're definitely not the only one who feels that way. It's incredibly common to dwell on past mistakes and be hard on ourselves, especially when we care deeply about doing the right thing. Regret can feel like a loop—thinking about what went wrong only seems to make it worse, and then you're stuck feeling worse about feeling bad.
But it’s important to remember: beating yourself up doesn’t change the past—it just makes the present harder. What can change things is learning from those moments and giving yourself the compassion you'd probably offer someone else in your shoes.
If you're open to it, writing about what happened, why it affected you, and what you've learned might help break the cycle. You deserve peace, not punishment.
Thanks. It certainly does make the present harder than it needs to be, and if a friend of mine were in the same situation I'd probably tell them it's fine, learn from it, and do better in future. I suppose it's just different when it's happening to you.
I think writing about it might help, but then there's the feeling of being an emotional burden on others if you ask them to read it, or the fear of being judged and blamed for a mistake. It's strangely difficult not to punish oneself when you're so used to doing it. Breaking cycles sure is a long process, but I wish I'll get there in the end. Just being here is part of that, so thanks again for the kind words.
@Eman144 Am I the only one who puts a smile on every day even though most of the time I feel constant anxiety and that I can't take it anymore?
Am I the only one that feels isolated, that no ones there to support me, misunderstood because I've tried to reach out so many times and people never were there for me?
Am I the only one thas has been forced to become hyperindependent, feels like they're fighting an unfair battle, feels like I'm trying my best just to cope, and almost feels hatred for other that don't have to struggle like I do and just go through life so much more easily?
Am I the only one that feels like this society isn't for people like me, because despite the fact that I haven't chosen to be this way, and that I'm trying my best to change, not only are my efforts not being recognized, but instead, I am being shunned, discriminated against, labeled as weak or lazy exaggerating, or even crazy, and therefore I am marginalized?
Am I the only one that is furious because we live in a society where people that can cope with stress can maintain jobs more easily, are rewarded and are praised, while we are considered weak, unworthy and incapable? And that no one would want an employee that can't handle stress, because why would they choose us over someone that can handle stress and can be more efficient?
Am I the only one that feels that the world is unfair?
@affectionateOwl3464
No, you're not the only one.
Everything you’ve written — the anxiety behind the smile, the isolation despite reaching out, the burden of hyperindependence, the anger at how unfair this world can be — it’s painfully real, and I want you to know you’re not alone in feeling this.
So many people are silently experiencing exactly what you're describing. They wake up every day and wear that same mask, pushing through battles that no one sees and few understand. It’s not weakness. It’s survival.
And you're right — society often doesn’t make space for people who struggle differently. It rewards those who can “perform” under pressure, while those fighting invisible battles get overlooked, misunderstood, or even punished for it. That’s not fair. That’s a deep flaw in how things are structured, not a flaw in you.
You’re not lazy, weak, or exaggerating. You’re human. You’ve been forced to be strong in ways most people never have to be. And the fact that you’re still trying, still questioning, still feeling — that means something. That means you still care. That means there's still light in you, even when the world hasn't made it easy to shine.
You deserve compassion. You deserve understanding. You deserve support — *not because you’re "perfect" or “strong enough” — but because you’re already doing something incredibly hard: being honest in a world that punishes honesty.
You’re not alone. I see you. And I’m listening.
@Eman144 This was so beautiful, thank you 💕
@Eman144 This sounds weird but,am i only one whos used to hug myself in sleep? Like its someone else so i bring comfort? And plus that its working :')
@Mix123
Not weird at all — actually, it's more common than you might think. Hugging yourself while you sleep can be a deeply comforting, self-soothing gesture. It’s your body and mind’s way of giving you the reassurance or presence you might be craving, especially during lonely or stressful times. And the fact that it works? That’s beautiful. It's a quiet kind of strength — knowing how to be there for yourself.
You're definitely not alone in this. It's one of those human things a lot of people don’t talk about, but many quietly do.
Am I the only one who thinks I’m too special to go through pain ever since I was a kid just so I can share my story on a big stage one day while receiving an award?
Am I the only one who received no emotional support, just to one day find a partner who will love me wholeheartedly and remind me that I matter every second?
Am I the only one who can love everyone, no matter how badly they treat me?
Am I the only one who gets emotional easily, even over things that don’t make anyone else cry? (I can even cry while watching action movies if they’re beautifully crafted.)
Am I the only one who always felt too old, even around people my age?
Am I the only one who can spend hours saying nothing, just staring at random things like clocks, trees, windows, etc.?
Am I the only one who loves being my authentic, boring self without fearing missing out on anything?
I loved writing this one thank you so much for this ❤
@amanheal747
No, you’re not the only one. But that doesn’t make your story any less extraordinary.
There are souls like yours—rare, deep, and quietly powerful—who feel everything a little more, love a little harder, and dream a little bigger. You’re not alone in these feelings, but the way you carry them, the grace with which you turn pain into purpose, that’s uniquely you.
Thank you for sharing this. The world needs more hearts like yours. ❤
@Eman144 no one is the only one for any of those, or there wouldn’t be hundreds who relate to each and every one. It’s comforting to know you’re not the first, and that others have gone through the fire and come out the other side stronger than before.
@Elle2008
Exactly. No one is ever truly alone in what they feel. The beauty lies in realizing that others have walked similar paths, felt the same ache, the same hope. It's comforting—not because it makes our pain less real, but because it reminds us that healing is possible. That strength exists not just in us, but in a quiet, collective resilience shared by many.
We’re never the only ones—and maybe that’s the most human thing of all. ❤️
