Comaparing myself

How do I stop comparing myself and getting discouraged? I want to learn to draw and do other things, but it's mainly art. Every time I see someone's artwork, I get discouraged. I honestly feel like not learning to draw because it's so many great artists, people my age and younger, and I feel like I'll never be good enough, so I haven't drawn at all. I also feel like I missed the train because I could have learned when I was younger. I know it's not too late, but I just can't shake the feeling that it is. By the time I get "good enough," every single person who would be my peers would be way ahead of me. This goes for a lot of things. I'm 24 and I should have at least had a skill I have built, but I don't. I messed up my teen years and now half of my twenties. I just feel like giving up.

@patientPlane1467 aww sweetie I'm sorry your struggling with all this🙁 comparing yourself to others is a bad road to go down🙁 I wish there was a easy fix to that. I love art and crafts it's my favourite hobby💖 the beauty of art is self expression of doesn't have to look like others it has to be yours. I think as long as your having fun then you've already won 💖 and you know you don't have to have just one skill, you can do all the things you find interesting. Be confident, have fun and be proud of what you create💖

She is 10000% right you know, you can have fun with this, in that field normally it's all competitive and there's no fun just stress. You have a gift have some fun with it, I am terribly sorry that you are in your head about your creativity but don't let those dark feelings get in the way of something you love to do! Gives you a hug it's going to be okay I promise

Comparison to others is a road to self doubt and failure. what someone brings to things is not defined by age .... ever wonder why in art people point out things done either by the extremely young or very old ...because it is rare.    i think of all the great things in life that may not have happened because the person who could have made a huge difference gave up because he or she felt they were behind peers who are same age.

No one else is keeping score... and those who are will always be disappointed because life is a marathon not a sprint and times in the race you will make great strides and sometimes others will pass you by but also by end of it you will just be happy with what you accomplished along the way.

Art is an expression of you - no matter what stage of life you are at, you can leave your imprint. Just draw investing your mind body soul and feel the peace that comes through creative catharsis. That's the point of the exercise. Outreach of one's work is never in their hands and never planned. 💛
