Holidays Support Thread - You're Not Alone
Hi, everyone!

The holiday season is often associated with joy and cheer, but for many people, it can be a difficult and lonely time. For those who have lost loved ones, the holidays can be a reminder of their absence. For those who are struggling financially, the holidays can be a source of stress and anxiety. For those who are facing health issues, the holidays can be a reminder of their physical and mental struggles.
No matter what the situation, the holidays can be a difficult time for many people. The pressure to be happy and festive can be overwhelming and can lead to feelings of guilt and sadness. Even if you’re surrounded by family and friends, it can still be hard to find joy in the season. It’s important to remember that it’s okay to not be merry and bright during the holidays.
If there is anything on your mind please do not hesitate to reach out to us here or in any way you may feel comfortable during the holidays.

The holidays really have no meaning to me anymore. The are just another day. All of my family members have passed mostly. And the loss of my Dad seven years ago sealed the season for me. There's only one holiday I still celebrate and that's Halloween. I still have friends who come to my party and we have a good time. But Christmas, New Year's, and Easter are just another day. I'd just as soon work than sit at home being maudlin. That's my take on holidays. 😕
@CheeryMango
I like holidays but i hate socialising with people/relatives/family members i'm not confirmable with.
It gives me severe anxiety and drains me out.
I wish i lived somewhere with only my closed and special ones.
I love Christmas and New years time.
Ahhh how i wish life was easy.
Anyway, sending all the good vibes your way!♥️
@CheeryMango
I have a pretty dysfunctional family; between that and overall busy-ness, holidays are something I enjoy myself (and maybe a few others. Maybe)

ha happy holiday…
so breaking up with the Ex not long ago who’s mother is potentially still expecting me and all my family and friends due to my ex not telling her, along with the complete lack of acknowledgment of the words my ex’s mothers words to me on the day I left is tough. It’s tough as this year was the first year I was able to convince those in my extended family to expect having Christmas around my ex’s mums house. My breakup has left many in a hopeful limbo that I don’t actually care about probably less than I should. Own your words then I’d not be in this situation as for many others, no unrealistic expectations would not exist if communicating extended beyond the hatful words. Having to arrange a Christmas meal and cook it for myself and kids when they Artois far from a worry although still is. The ex bf attempts and misguided thoughts and expectations are the second most challenging to having to split parent on Christmas Day.
One child of mine is unable to swallow safely and therefore is tube fed and the other isn’t even 2 years old yet, food is far from important in my situation yet tk separation is the most difficult.
waking Christmas Day without my children around until gone midday or having to drop them to their day gone midday makes me question so much. My children’s happiness is paramount so the sinking and unpleasant feeling that I’m being selfish with my boundaries hurts when I know even if only on a temporary basis a kid having both parents together is actually best for them.
Christmas and life truly hurts beyond capability to cope if you allow thinking..
The holidays don't necessarily need to be happy or a state of joy, because there are so many complex questions it's completely normal to feel alone during this time or you just want to relax this holiday and enjoy the new year.

D hasn't even gotten the tree out of storage yet... last year we didn't put it up.. Looks like he's going to procrastinate this year too... Don't have the energy to argue with him. Don't feel much like listening or talking these days. Family is far away. Miss my daughters and grand kids so much. I have siblings ... 9 of them, but no one even sends cards anymore. Feeling alone, isolated in a dark place.
I did get out to share some cheer with the local Senior Center. Took them over a card and some snowflake stitch outs... oops.. .for got to take pictures... I'll make some more and post them on my hobby thread in a day or two or three... when ever I get the energy up to do it.
And I'm angry and sad and hurting that my son never made it back here before he died. Life just plain sucks sometimes... but the sun always comes up every morning to remind me that life goes on.
I know I'm not the only one down in the pits so I'm sending out a gentle, warm hug to all those who are hurting like me. Take care of yourself. Be nice to yourself...
@EmbStitcher33 *hugs Emb* ❤

Thank you. Feeling better today. Getting some important things set up to help myself so yeah - not just sitting here in self-pity mode. Gotta cry a little but not drown in those tears. My inner spirit may be dimmed a little but I'm working on my shine... ☺️
@EmbStitcher33
Your positivity shines so bright always! I love "My inner spirit may be dimmed a little but I'm working on my shine.." super quote-worthy! 💛
@CheeryMango
Thank you. My adult daughter and I are spending the holidays just us. It' not an easy time at all. I honestly am not sure if I can pay rent or utilities from month to month. So, I'm hoping to put something together to make it a little special for us this year, without spending money needed for the basics.
@amusingLion6563
Struggling financially isn't easy, i hear you. Spending time together with your child is nice, and sometimes all the magic that's needed. It won't make struggles go away, but it is something special. Im sure they'll understand. Hope situation changes for better 🥺🤍

I am in the process of trying to heal from a hard childhood and the psychological damage and suffering it has caused me throughout my life so far. This makes it challenging to celebrate Christmas with my family and pretend like I am enjoying the festivity, when actually seeing them brings up so many painful memories. Last time I was together with my family I felt so sad and overwhelmed that I spent part of the day upstairs, alone and crying. For me Christmas also means that my therapist is on holiday, and I have to miss her and deal with my pain alone for several weeks.
@Ilona7
Sending you guys if you want them. Glad that you're reaching out here. You're really not alone. Sending warm loving vibes your way.
