How do you handle conflict?
Conflict is something most of us were never formally taught to handle. We learned our reactions from childhood, culture, survival, or pure habit. For years, I didn’t even realise I had a conflict “style.” I just reacted fast, instinctive, and often in ways that didn’t help me or the people I cared about.
Over time, I noticed a pattern: whenever tension appeared, I either fought, froze, or tried to fix everything instantly. And the truth is, none of these responses are “wrong.” They’re simply signs of how our bodies protect us when we feel unsafe or misunderstood.
The real work begins when we ask ourselves:
How do I respond in a way that brings clarity, not chaos? Connection, not distance?
Your first response to conflict is a reflex.
Your chosen response is growth.
Whether you fight, freeze, or fix, you’re not broken. You’re human.
And every conflict offers a chance to learn a language we were never taught: the language of calm, clarity, and connection.

Means a lot 😊
What about when the other person is the problem?
In certain situations that can definitely be the case, you know...i.e. when you're dealing with a narcissist or someone with full-blown ASPD. You'll never get anywhere when dealing with someone who has no conscience & sees you purely as an object to be manipulated, &/or a target for his/her own sadistic impulses.
Living with difficult people is draining. I try my best to disconnect mentally from their energy and deepen connection with my own.
@Creamyyy If the other person is too difficult or just can't be reasoned with, my preferred solution involves plenty of strong rope, a gag, two cinderblocks & unbroken silence afterwards...
