🦋🐚 I See You 🦋🐚
hi, lovely humans. ☁️
if we haven't met yet, my name is Lex, and i'm one of the listeners here on 7 Cups.
being a listener means a lot to me because i know how meaningful it can be to have someone simply stay and listen. i don't think listening is about fixing someone, having the perfect advice, or making someone's problems disappear. sometimes it's just about sitting beside someone in the middle of their mess and reminding them that they don't have to explain everything perfectly to deserve care.
as a listener, i want people to feel like they can show up exactly as they are. you don't have to make your feelings smaller. you don't have to make your story sound pretty. you don't have to have the right words. you deserve to be heard simply because you're human. 🌿
mental health can be incredibly lonely sometimes.
one of the hardest parts about struggling is that so much of it can happen where nobody else can see it.
you can be laughing with your friends while feeling completely exhausted inside. you can answer "i'm okay" because explaining what's actually happening feels too overwhelming. you can go to work, go to school, take care of other people, answer messages, and keep doing everything you're expected to do while quietly wondering how much longer you can keep carrying everything.
and sometimes you don't even want someone to fix it.
you just want someone to notice.
you want someone to notice that your smile feels a little different today.
that you're quieter than usual.
that you're answering messages differently.
that you're tired.
that you're trying.
that something feels wrong even though you can't find the words to explain exactly what it is.
🌸
being noticed and being heard can mean so much more than people realize.
sometimes we spend so much energy trying to explain ourselves that we become exhausted from explaining. we explain why something hurt. we explain why we're struggling. we explain why we're distant. we explain why getting out of bed feels difficult.
and after a while, you might start wondering...
"what if someone could just see it?"
what if someone could look past the "i'm fine" and gently ask again?
what if someone could recognize that your silence doesn't mean you have nothing to say?
what if someone could understand that you're not asking them to solve everything—you just want someone to sit with you in it?
☁️
struggling doesn't always look like falling apart.
sometimes struggling looks like functioning.
sometimes it looks like getting everything done while feeling completely empty.
sometimes it looks like being the person everyone else comes to for help while secretly wishing someone would check on you too.
sometimes it looks like being incredibly good at hiding your pain because you've gotten so used to carrying it.
and that's why being seen matters.
because everyone deserves moments where they don't have to perform. moments where they don't have to pretend. moments where someone can say, "i see you. you don't have to explain everything right now."
life can be incredibly heavy, and we don't always know what someone is carrying as they walk through it.
so maybe being there for someone isn't always about knowing exactly what to say.
maybe sometimes it's simply noticing.
noticing the person who's gone quiet.
noticing the friend who always checks on everyone else.
noticing the person who says they're okay a little too quickly.
noticing the person who seems happy but might be struggling underneath.
and sometimes, that little bit of attention can remind someone that they matter. 🤍
🌼
so today, i'd love to ask:
🌿 what's something you wish someone would notice without you having to explain it?
maybe it's something about your mental health.
maybe it's something you're struggling with.
maybe it's simply that you're tired, lonely, overwhelmed, or trying your absolute best.
you don't have to share anything you're not comfortable sharing. even if you don't have an answer, you're welcome to simply read and know that someone out there understands how hard it can be to carry things quietly.
🌷
and before you go, please remember that you deserve to be seen too.
you deserve to be listened to.
you deserve to have someone care about what you're carrying.
if you ever need a place to talk, vent, ramble, or simply have someone listen for a little while, my PMs are always open. no judgment and no pressure. just a listening ear. 🤍
be gentle with yourself today.
you never know how much someone might need to hear, "i see you."

Thanks for tagging me Lex! This is a fabulous post!
I think it's absolutely, incredibly important for us to hear that we're being seen, so thank you for that. For me, this year has been about recognizing the people that make me feel seen and heard. I've found that those are the people in life worth keeping close and hanging on to. We try so hard to make ourselves be seen by so many people in life, but it takes us a while to realize the quality is in the people who decide to take a second look, to stop and listen.
That's the beauty of this place. For as many people there are here striving to be seen, there are just many of us who see you. Remember that!!
Thank you for making me feel seen and heard today Lex! 💖

This is such a beautiful perspective 💗 I really love what you said about the people who take the time to stop and listen. Sometimes we spend so much energy trying to prove ourselves or make people understand us, when the right people will simply take the time to see us for who we are.
I’m so glad this place has helped you feel seen and heard, because you deserve that just as much as everyone else here does. 🫂 And I think it’s really special that you’re learning to recognize the people who make you feel that way and keep them close.
Thank you for your kind words too. It means a lot to know that something I shared helped you feel seen today. 💕

🌿 what's something you wish someone would notice without you having to explain it?
That I m tired and I m not always okay just because I say I am or just because I check on and help everyone. That I m having problems as well and that my family issues are getting worse by time.
Thanks for this post lex. I loved it again. It made me feel like I m not the only one going through this. Thanks✨️🤍

Thank you for sharing this so honestly. 🤍 Sometimes the people who are always checking on everyone else are the ones who quietly need someone to check on them, too. You shouldn’t have to constantly say “I’m not okay” for someone to notice that you’re tired or carrying more than you let on. And with things at home getting harder, it makes so much sense that you’re feeling worn down.
I hope you remember that you’re allowed to have struggles of your own, to not be okay, and to lean on others sometimes. You don’t always have to be the strong one. 🌿 You deserve the same care and understanding that you give so freely to everyone else. I’m really glad this post helped you feel a little less alone. 🫂🤍
@LexListens2025
It indeed helped. Thanks once again lex. I made you my personal therapist😂
Why doesn't anyone notice when my emotional level has tanked :( Why dont they ask me how I'm REALLY doing?
@jesusredeemedme2425
I’m really sorry you’re feeling this way. 🤍 It can hurt so much when you’re quietly running on empty and it feels like nobody notices unless you actually say the words out loud. Sometimes we get so used to saying “I’m fine” or putting on a smile that people don’t realize how much is happening underneath.
You deserve to be asked how you’re really doing, not just whether you’re “okay.” You shouldn’t have to completely fall apart before someone notices that you’re struggling. 🫂 And for what it’s worth, I’m glad you shared this here. You deserve a space where you can be honest about how you’re feeling without having to hide it.
No one sees me.
@LexListens2025 Thank you so much for your kind words, they resonate so deeply.
For me, I'm always faking that everything is good and fine. I'm glad that almost everyone believes it, which shows I'm a capable and mature adult. An adult who don't bring their personal feelings into working and studying as everyone expects. Because of that, its more precious when someone looks deep into my eyes and says, you seem tired, you've done good enough. No solution needed, only noticing the fact that I really tried all my best to make things look ok is totally enough.
@Pufffffy
I think there’s something really powerful in what you said here. Being able to keep showing up, working, studying, and taking care of everything doesn’t mean you aren’t exhausted underneath it all. Sometimes being “capable” becomes the very reason people don’t realize how much you’re carrying.
And I completely understand why those simple words “you seem tired, you’ve done good enough” can mean so much. Sometimes we don’t need advice or someone to fix everything. We just need someone to notice the effort behind the smile and remind us that they see how hard we’ve been trying. You deserve to be seen like that, too.
