***TW*** Inwardly Flinching in Fear
***TW*** Physical and mental abuse, and PTSD
The PTSD… It’s hard lately. Sometimes I inwardly flinch, in different situations… When people are angry, even when men walk near me. I cower, curled into a ball, in my mind. Waiting to be beaten. Because of him. He never hit me… But he broke me. Tried to break my finger and threw me out of his car. But more than the physical pain… He made me flinch. Now. Even when he’s been gone for 3 years. He made me terrified of the impact that never came… The slap that never left its mark. When will it come?
I’m afraid…

🥺
It's hard when something like that constantly retriggers the same emotions, as if it's happening all over again.
You are safe, I know it's difficult but you are safe 💜💕

Awww <3
I'm sorry for your inner pain. I have some of my own that is still mostly unresolved. When I become fearful my mind races and I can't even form a clear train of thought and the fear grows because I think I am going crazy. Most of the time its not even situational- I'm in my own driveway. I first pray, and then repeat two affirmations, "God is always with me" and "I am safe and in control" (or God is in control, that's more truthful). My last trauma, although it was major, was ten years ago. I feel ridiculous sometimes for still being scared. I just recently have gone back to being cautious of what I watch, read, or listen to. But if God is going to comfort me it's wise to cooperate. Fill your mind with good things, pray with your whole heart, and take care of your mind, body, and soul as best you can. You may not be at peace all the time but you will come to know; God's got you and he will never let you go.

I wish I had so the right words to say. ❤️ I struggle myself. An acknowledgement “this is how I feel” a deep breath “I am safe” ❤️ I’m here for you
I know exactly what you are going through. DBT helped me tremendously.
Hi, Kiara— I hope you’re in a physically safe space at the moment. The sorts of horrifying trauma you suffered three years ago unfortunately can terribly negatively impact neurological wiring and create the fear sensations which you’re devastatingly experiencing. You reaching out here is exceedingly brave and I commend you for your courage. I wish I knew words that would comfort or soothe you to get through these tough feelings, which I am sure you wish you could cast far away. I know some people try distracting themselves in different ways (different things seem to work for different people: a walk, a hot shower, listening to music, playing with legos, coloring or drawing or journaling). Some people find solace going on a group chat such as a sharing circle, or the support group chat, or finding a kind listener who can talk you through the tough moments. Also, I wonder if there are any people in your environment such as a counselor, a relative, or someone from your church that you could confide in or make an arrangement where you could text them when you’re in the middle of these feelings. I wish I knew what to say to relieve some of your suffering because I know these sorts of flashbacks can be incredibly painful. Please continue to reach out, and please let us know how you’re doing. People here obviously care about you. Please know you’re loved and cherished here and please reach out anytime.
Kindly,
Patience
I’m safe, don’t worry <3 It’s just my mind being mean to me :(
Yes, I wish our minds could be friendlier to us sometimes.

My memories are scaring me somehow, even though the memories themselves aren't scary. I don't get it...
