TW: Sexual Assault

I was sexually assaulted by a family member, and yeah… it still messes me up. Way more than I let on. Some days I feel like I’m rotting from the inside out. Like no matter how much time passes, I still feel gross. Like it’s stuck to me and I can’t scrub it off. And everyone knows. That part makes it worse. I feel exposed, like my pain is just out there in the open and I’m supposed to keep functioning like nothing happened.

I carry so much anger. And shame. Even though I know deep down it’s not mine to carry it never was. But trauma doesn’t care about logic. It just sits in your body and waits to ruin your day at 3am. I don’t have everything figured out. I’m still trying. Some days surviving feels like the bare minimum, and even that feels impossible. But I’m still here. I’m angry. I’m tired. I’m healing very slowly and very messily, but I’m healing.

That’s all.

@Lindsey103 everything you're feeling is a valid reaction, and a very common one. There's nothing to be ashamed of, you're not broken, not weak, just a persone ho was hurt in the worst way possible. You're doing the best you can to take care of yourself, and even if you feel like there's more that might help you - sharing it with other people, trying out psychological support... You can give it a go and give yourself another chance to process what happened to you.
Nothing will change what happened, but it doesn't have to define your life. Things can get better. Not perfect, maybe, but better. And by holding on and taking care of yourself, you're doing all you can to help to process. You're strong, and I wish you the best.

Hey, thank you❤️ It’s been a lot to handle, and some days I’m just barely holding it together. But reading your message definitely helps show me someone actually cares..I’m trying to keep going. Just knowing I’m not totally alone helps more than you know❤️❤️

I hear you. This is something that occurs more often than we would like to admit in families. This also happened to me. I, too, carried the shame and fear for years. I felt damaged and rotten inside. Slowly healing, this also is and was true for me, too. You are not alone. You are brave, wise, and strong for reaching out for help and assistance. You are taking control of the situation someone else put you in. Keep it up. I also want to let you know that self-love is very crucial. Friend, this is my first time here. I want to say so much to let you know that these kinds of situations are not your fault. Healing is a process, too, so don't feel discouraged. You are getting here slowly but surely.

@Kharolful

Thank you so much for sharing your story.. I hate that you had to go through something similar that honestly sucks so much. It’s wild how many of us carry this pain alone. But knowing healing is a thing, even if it’s messy and slow, actually gives me some hope 😭 I’m trying to get back my power and practice self love...even when it feels impossible...thank you for being brave enough to speak up too. It means more than you know❤️❤️

My heart goes out for you for the pain and hurt you have gone thru , in the same time I salute you for for sharing it as it needs lot of courage to speak it out

Ya it’s more painful when it’s done by someone who knows you and whom u trust , well even I had gone thru the same when I was a child

I know no words can comfort for his pain and agony , believe me it’s not your fault nor you should feel ashamed father the person who did should feel ashamed for the act

What I have learnt is it’s only no one can stand out for self better than ourselves as no one knows us better than ourselves and this pain , so I’m glad you are trying to heal yourself and standing for self

Never feel alone during the healing we all are there for you all the time

So do self care and I’m sure with time you will come over it and would be new stronger version of yourself

With much love and prayers for you ❤️

@DryRain16L

hey…this means alot to me❤️ like no one ever really says stuff like that to me. i always feel like i'm too much or not enough to actually be listened to. so the fact that you want to hear my stories? that you even care?? That means so much to me you have no idea.. I don’t always know how to open up or where to even begin, but maybe talking wouldn’t be the worst thing. maybe it’d feel okay. so yeah… thank you. seriously. it means more than you probably realize.❤️❤️

You don’t have everything figured out and that’s ok else where is there rooom to grow and heal, Lindsey?! 🤍

You know it’s not your fault.

You know the betrayal.

You know the hurt.

You know the audacy someone would have to take advantage.

You are angry for ever letting them into your life.

This message you’ve sent can help a lot for someone struggling to process what they’ve been through. Thanks for sharing with us.

Love and healing,

GoldenRuleJG

@Lindsey103 those are very valid feelings and most people (who haven't experienced trauma themselves) don't understand why these feelings don't ever fully go away. They think its supposed to magically disappear overnight (impossible). While I can't say that I've healed from a similar experience, I can tell you there's a song (this artist as a whole has amazing trauma related music) that really helped me get through those similar feelings and when they do show up (like the ugly little monsters they are), I can turn this song on and put it on repeat. Its called "7 years" by Skydxddy. I hope this helps and if there's anything I can do to help/listen, I'm here!

Thank you so much!! It means more than you probably know. I’ve actually heard of Skydxddy’s music before it’s really good music 😭 You’re so right though, those feelings never really go away, they just kinda... live with you. Some days they’re louder, some days quieter. Just knowing you’re here, offering to listen, it means alot. Thank you❤️❤️

@Lindsey103 take it one day at a time. Pain doesn't have a expiration date. And cant nobody tell you when you should be over it. Just by you being able to speak about it shows you are stronger than you ever imagine. The person that hurt you was hurt they self and you did not deserve to be apart of that cycle. It might take a whole life time to figure out and understand why. I hope you know you are way more than your assault and very important and special. You feel how you should feel. Don't be ashamed let it be known which may help future victims. That did not make you who you are today. You did! And what you mean to the world is what is going to get you through it! Keep fighting the battle!

@caringmomma03

Thank you <3 . Honestly, taking it one day at a time is all I can do. Pain doesn’t have a timeline, and nobody should tell me when to be “over” it. Talking about it feels tough but also kinda powerful😅😅 You’re right what happened doesn’t define me, and I’m just figuring it out as I go...Really appreciate your words, means a lot❤️❤️
