What Should I Do On My Day Off?
I’m absolutely exhausted, nearly broken down, riddled with overwhelm and overload and just… too much. I’m using my day off as a day off… No errands, just resting. But I’m torn… I always have this deep urge and need to be productive, even though my mind and my body are begging, desperate, silently crying out for a rest. I don’t know how to soothe that ache for productivity while resting. Or to silence it altogether.
So with all this in mind… What are some things I could do while I stay home, and try to give my body and mind some time to recuperate and recover?
Some specific things that come to mind (whether good or bad, I know not) are:
Read my book (“The Residence”, about the inner working of the White House)
Go through a small stack of papers I’ve been procrastinating on
Read through my stack of kids’ books
Draw Christmas cards
Do dishes
Send some mail to a friend
7Cups
Read my Bible
Clear out pictures, emails, etc, on computer and phone
And… yeah. I ran out of ideas already. :(
I want to rest, but I don’t want to either overwork myself or drive myself mad with boredom. Any ideas, please? Thank you :)

Reading ur fav book maybe novel sounds nice also you can try some claming music to give ur self some rest... or have something you've been craving to Eat it's okay for it to be something productive even having some sleep is a productive thing to do for ur self! 😁
I wish you have a peaceful day! 🤍
@jesusredeemedme2425 Sleep in. Have a nice breakfast. Enjoy a cup of coffee or tea outside and listen to the birds. You could take one of the children's book with to read while you have your coffee or tea. Go for a walk. Watch an episode or two of your favorite show. I can't just sit and watch something, I need to do something while watching. You could start on your Christmas cards while watching or go through the stack of papers you have. Enjoy the sunshine. Maybe read another children's book. Take a nap. Maybe plan a nice dinner to make. Pamper yourself. A nice soak in the tub or a refreshing shower. Paint your nails. Just take a moment or two to breathe and relax 😊
Im sorry to hear that , U seem going through the condition. Im aldo in this since long. That's why i used to have self break.
I tried many things to make myself at peace but few helped me.
Like spending time with cute little babies, watering plant, caring them. Praying, reciting or listening the verse of Allah (God). Quran . And i walk in nature sometimes doing dhikr(supplications )it's very soothing, feeding pets, birds put a bowl outside for them to eat or drinking water. And talk to the people who gives u positive energy.
That's all what i do. And it really helped.
I have been alot , but by this Alhamdulillah im towards healing process slowly.
And if u ever need to talk someone, if u like to talk to me anytime u can msg me.
Don't think much stressful stuff in ur life.
Really overthinking isn't good and it won't help . Practically doing something Good , helps us to recover.
@jesusredeemedme2425 first of all, read from the Bible. Get some spiritual rest. And then you can proceed with what you feel like doing 😊
It's called day off for a reason, don't you think?
Something you can do to feed your productivity urge is make a schedule with a list of goals. That way your relaxtion is built in and you can check things off like tasks that need to be completed. Maybe you'll do X and Y to relax, then work on Z later.
There's not an exact method to relaxation.
Personally, I find cleaning relaxing. Organizing, sorting, etc. It makes me feel calm. That's my big activity during my days off. Clean, clean, clean.
@jesusredeemedme2425
try breath work until your mind and muscles calm down. Sometimes hours can pass like minutes. For me usually it creates a bigger relief than following the urge to keep running until you’re exhausted

Try diamond painting or handcrafting!
It is okay to just relax and do nothing. A good thing to do is to meditate if you are into that. You can do a hobby you enjoy. It is always good to socialize with a friend.
