confusion about religion.
hi. (bad grammar)
just want to share some stories of my life lately.
so, i've been losing my path lately, i feel lost, and doesnt really understand my own religion.
im born into a specific religion (im scared to mention it). since i was a kid, i always taught to pray and pray to God, that if i dont pray God will be mad and cursing me, those words were ingrained in my brain since I was a child, makes me feel uncomfortable in my own religion.
The older I get, the more often I question my religious teachings, the more I feel that I am in the wrong place. The more often I pray for guidance, the more I lose my direction when I feel my prayers are not heard.
I'm lost, I don't know the direction of my beliefs anymore, formally, I'm still a member of my religion, but in my heart, I feel like I've lost my faith.
Lately I've been trying to find a lot of information about the questions in my mind about my religion, finding out the truth, finding out things that used to bother my mind. But strangely, I still feel that praying to God is pointless, cus what's the point of praying if the god you believe in doesn't listen to your prayer? (no offense intended.)
On social media, people with the same religion as me are really rude and uneducated, they act as if their religion is the most correct, insulting those who have different choice of religion. insulting those who dare to be different, insulting those who are 'honest' and speak 'facts'. They will act as if they have a VIP seat in heaven, as if God has given them a free pass to heaven, so they dare to judge others, and act like a smartass. Because of people like that, my belief in my religion is fading, I know that it is some individuals who are wrong, but it really influences my choices, their old-fashioned way of thinking, makes me doubt all the teachings of my religion.
does thinking like this, making me a sinner? does it make me a bad person? i dont know what should i do about my beliefs, for now, i choose to use my logic over everything
@seastarcath I believe everyone has the right to choose their beliefs. And reflecting on your religion from a personal point of view doesn't make you wrong or a bad person. Try not to be too hard on yourself ❤️ Sending lots of love your way! 💕
@seastarcath hi sweetie 💖 I hear you, I've been there, questioned everything, tried to learn what's real and what's not. And I came to the conclusion that I will follow what I think is right💖 I have faith in God, angels and heaven, but I don't class myself as any one particular religion 💖 so I suggest you think about what faith means to you? What you think is right and wrong? Follow your own path💖💖 gives you a giant tiny hug 💗
@seastarcath
Somehow the same... hugsss🫂🫂💙 it's so difficult... these kinda internal struggles and hesitation
Hi @seastarcath! I'm sorry you weren't properly taught about God's grace. I am a Christian, btw. We are all sinners in need of God's grace. The God I believe in welcomes questions and doesn't get mad if you forget to talk to Him. He is slow to anger and He patiently waits for us to repent (turn away from our old ways) and trust in Jesus, and once we do He gives us eternal and abundant life through the Holy Spirit, who Jesus calls the helper.
I encourage you to not give up, keep asking questions and seeking answers, and do your own objective research. God gave you a logical brain so that you can gain understanding. The Proverbs have a lot to say about wisdom and understanding, btw.
Unfortunately, there are people who erroneously teach others to have blind faith, and that it's wrong to ask questions. Those people are stumbling blocks for those who are sincere about wanting to understand God better.
As for God not listening to your prayers, I recommend reading the Psalms.
I say all this on a take-it-or-leave-it basis. I'm curious about what religion you were raised in, but I respect you keeping it confidential.
I believe in following religion through intellectual conviction.
Laws of my religion have a lot of wisdom behind them. Which isnt easy to understand at once. It takes time to understand life -- only after which we can get a better hang of religious teachings.
Separate theology from religious culture. Often both will have many contradictions.
Id suggest not to rebel against your inner truth or intuition - whatever thats prompting you to. Thats the way I try to live my life.
@seastarcath
I can only imagine how frustrating this might be
But if I were to have a comment on this matter, I suggest you look more into your religion -away from social media, personal opinions or any biased sources of information.
Keep looking for the truth and you will be guided towards it
Even if it takes a while, but it will be worth it in the end
